While the majority of the world population is playing Half-Life 2, our artists are still hard at work to bring you more great models and skins. This week we will be releasing some great pictures of the NGM Gunship, now skinned by Dete. These are great looking renders and I know I can't wait to see this ship ingame (SDK soon). We are getting ready to start mapping and coding, so those ingame screenshots shouldn't be far off after the SDK release. So here is the media:

We had a radio interview on Monday November 15th at the HL2DB release party. We finally posted the full interview that you can download from our press page so I hope you guys enjoy that. We are also slowly revamping the website with some new information (and getting rid of the outdated stuff). The first victim of this revamp was the class page so you can go check that out.

I would like to welcome Snow-War into the Half-Life Gaming hosting family. For more information about the mod, please check it's website.
As you can see, we are now hosted in hlgaming.com in our new address http://snowwar.hlgaming.com/
Changing host has gone very smoothly so far, and now we can finally update our site again!

As a little "celebration", we decided to release brand new wallpaper and Snow-War Theme for Series 60 Mobile phones!

This is Snow-War Theme for mobile phones running Symbian Series 60, including Nokia 6630, Nokia 6260, Nokia 7610, Sendo X, Nokia 6600/6620, Siemens SX1, Samsung D710, Panasonic X700, Nokia 7650, Nokia 3650/3660, Nokia N-Gage QD and Nokia N-Gage

Download it from Files section.

Also we are looking for some beta-testers. If you are interested, post your contact details and little bio on "Join Snow-War" section in our forums. We will be needing quita a bit testers, so don't be shy. Also if you would be able to test in LAN with 3 or more other players, then that would be a huge plus.

And finally, please post your maps if you have any, in our forums. We are going to release SOON, so get on working!

This map started a while by in the community. It's orginal author, Bluestrike, passed it along to Squad while it was still being worked on as map for another mod from years back. Over some time, Squad slowly adapted the map to the design it is currently in. Swatman has taken to polishing the map for our 1.4 release.
Khartoum is one of the largest villages in Sudan. The name Khartoum means 'Elephant's trunk' and in Sudan it is considered the world's largest waiting room.

Later this week we will see some shots of a few of the other maps we have coming. I'll also have an interview with some of our newer staff members and keep your eyes open....
you never know what can show up in a screenshot.

David "SidewinderX" Petkofsky from Cold War: Melting Point send in some great news. A brand new site has been put online along with a update informing us about changes, a HalfLife2.net interview and showing us brand new media:

Yes, your eyes are working. This is new and different. I'll get right down to it. We have changed here at CW:MP. But before you start worrying, let me assure you that we have been rebuilt, better and stronger than before. What are these changes? Well, we have decided, after lengthy discussion, that the mod would be a better mod if we could move out of the generic “modern combat” genre that is being assaulted by hundreds of mods. So Cold War: Melting Point is now closer to our namesake. No longer do we have a poor alternated history explanation for the time setting. CW:MP is now set right in the heart of the Cold War; 1962.

So what does this mean for the mod? Well, don't worry, the core of our mod is still the dynamic campaign system, and the class system and gameplay features are still intact. We are now just set in a historical setting, which, in all honesty, excites me. This time period is untouched. The closest we've found in an FPS are Vietnam games, and this is a far cry from that. We have the opportunity to put this time period in a game, and we intend to make the most of it.

Curious about our thoughts on the subject of changing the time period? Halflife2.Net has interviewed myself and [=hris about the changes. You can read that here.

Ok, with said, time to move onto the gory details about the update. This is our brand new site, designed by our very own [=hris! There is a plethora of information available on the site, and I urge you to explore and digest it all. I'm not going to list all the new stuff here, this post is already long enough, but I will tell you of one new thing. We will try and have fairly consistant weekly updates that mention new media in the forums, new dev blogs, and any important world/gaming news. Keep an eye out for that!

I will however, list the positions that we are currently hiring for: We are looking for Texture Artists to create map textures. A Skinner who knows UVW unwraping, or just someone who can UVW unwrap, to ease the load on our skinners and modelers. A coder with extensive experience with the Half-Life 1 SDK. A Player Modeler. Animators. And last but not least, an Sound FX engineer. Keep in mind that we will always look at you if you apply, even if you do not fit one of these roles. Go here to apply.

Don't have any particular talent, but still want to get involved? Join our Forum! You can also chat with us in our IRC channel; #cwmp on irc.gamesurge.net. If you have mIRC installed, you can click this link to connect.

And what would a news post be without media? Listed below is a sample of some of the media. You can find all of the media on the weapons and vehicle pages under the About section. I would like to thank forum member ComieKazie for his wonderful logo image that is currently used in the “no-image” image, and I'm sure you'll see crop up in many more places in the future. Without further ado...

Check out the new Cold War: Melting Point site for more information and for the rest of the new media.

Gamebiz has put online it's review of Half-Life 2. A good read with among others this in it:

Half-life 2 is the bee’s knees. If you’re looking for a game that sucks you right into the screen, this is it. This is your FPS benchmark, this is the game of the year; this game is the beautiful, imaginative, detailed masterpiece of 2004.

I've uploaded my own review of Half-Life 2 to my site. Here some words:

After starting up the game you'll get a great looking menu with a animated background (Which will change depending where you are in the game, first City 17, then the Canals etc). The menu is neat and easy to browse. The well known Steam menu's offer all the options, settings and what not. After setting the controls to my needs, I'm left handed so the wsad combination does not really work for me, and adjusting the looks it was time to get Gordon back into the saddle again, fighting to save the world once more.

Video Game Suck has put online its great to read Half-Life 2 review. Here some words:

Gameplay: This is the most incredible, funniest gameplay ever created. As soon as barney throws you your crowbar, you know.. its time to beat some ass. The weapons all kick ass, i cant find a single non useful weapon in this game at all. The gravity gun is the greatest thing ever. You can throw almost ANYTHING at guys. Planks of wood, explosives barrels, shrapnel from the explosive barrel, cinder blocks, desks, saw blades, paint ANYTHING and its so ****ing cool. Cut zombies in half and smash bodies by shooting an engine at them ITS AWESOME. Also don’t forget Gordon's incredible crowbar skills. He can ****ing throw that thing like Xena Warrior Princess and have it bounce off walls, smash a guy in the face, then catch it with HIS ASS. WHO ELSE CAN DO THAT?... NO ONE...
