A brand new site has been put online along with a update informing us about changes, a HalfLife2.net interview and showing us brand new media:
Yes, your eyes are working. This is new and different. I'll get right down to it. We have changed here at CW:MP. But before you start worrying, let me assure you that we have been rebuilt, better and stronger than before. What are these changes? Well, we have decided, after lengthy discussion, that the mod would be a better mod if we could move out of the generic “modern combat” genre that is being assaulted by hundreds of mods. So Cold War: Melting Point is now closer to our namesake. No longer do we have a poor alternated history explanation for the time setting. CW:MP is now set right in the heart of the Cold War; 1962. So what does this mean for the mod? Well, don't worry, the core of our mod is still the dynamic campaign system, and the class system and gameplay features are still intact. We are now just set in a historical setting, which, in all honesty, excites me. This time period is untouched. The closest we've found in an FPS are Vietnam games, and this is a far cry from that. We have the opportunity to put this time period in a game, and we intend to make the most of it. Curious about our thoughts on the subject of changing the time period? Halflife2.Net has interviewed myself and [=hris about the changes. You can read that here. Ok, with said, time to move onto the gory details about the update. This is our brand new site, designed by our very own [=hris! There is a plethora of information available on the site, and I urge you to explore and digest it all. I'm not going to list all the new stuff here, this post is already long enough, but I will tell you of one new thing. We will try and have fairly consistant weekly updates that mention new media in the forums, new dev blogs, and any important world/gaming news. Keep an eye out for that! I will however, list the positions that we are currently hiring for: We are looking for Texture Artists to create map textures. A Skinner who knows UVW unwraping, or just someone who can UVW unwrap, to ease the load on our skinners and modelers. A coder with extensive experience with the Half-Life 1 SDK. A Player Modeler. Animators. And last but not least, an Sound FX engineer. Keep in mind that we will always look at you if you apply, even if you do not fit one of these roles. Go here to apply. Don't have any particular talent, but still want to get involved? Join our Forum! You can also chat with us in our IRC channel; #cwmp on irc.gamesurge.net. If you have mIRC installed, you can click this link to connect. And what would a news post be without media? Listed below is a sample of some of the media. You can find all of the media on the weapons and vehicle pages under the About section. I would like to thank forum member ComieKazie for his wonderful logo image that is currently used in the “no-image” image, and I'm sure you'll see crop up in many more places in the future. Without further ado...Check out the new Cold War: Melting Point site for more information and for the rest of the new media.![]()
