Hello all ES2 fans and visitors!

Today is the start of our new, official contest for making a banner for Eternal-Silence 2. Here are some ground rules

- Must be 88x31, you also could do 133x55 pixels as well. Note: We actually prefer that you submit both so you have a larger chance of getting your button posted on different sites, and saves the hassle of us resizing it and such.

- Animation is allowed.

- Filesizes: <10 kb for still images. <30 kb for animated images.

- Must use some type of art from our gallery.

- Three suggestions for banners are a UTF Style, GM style, and a neutral style. You have the option of doing any 3 if you want or you could do one or two. Your choice.

- No profanity of any kind (language or image)

- Must say "Eternal-Silence 2" on it. If you can squeeze in "A Half-Life 2 Mod" as well, that would be super. But don't force the second one in if it covers the image.

- Please make a visible link of "www.eternal-silence.net" on it. This would probably be able to fit in on the large banner size. However, since clicking on the link will bring you to our page it would be better if you have it, but not enforced to have it.

- Please include your source image file (PSD or whatever) and the final, compiled image in a GIF/JPG as that is what complies with most sites.

Prize:

The winner will have a guaranteed beta testing spot for Eternal-Silence 2 once the time comes. The tester will be required to have their own, legal copy of Half-Life 2. No exceptions. But heck, who wouldn't want to buy Half-Life 2 anyways!

How to submit:

There will be a thread in the General Discussion for banner submissions. Simply attach your file (.zip preferred) to your post and maybe a little description like what banner sizes, what styles etc etc.

When to submit:

Any time before May 25, 2004. One fortnight basically. And for those who don't understand English very well, or never read Shakespeare, a fortnight = 14 days See, ES2 teaches you so much stuff!

I'd like to announce the first release of my new project, Percy's Persistence Engine. (Percy is short for Persuter.) This engine consists of some client software which should be included in the Half-Life or Q3A server project of your mod, and some server software that should be run on another computer. The Half-Life or Q3A games (or any other games) can then save and load information to that computer, and associate that information with a name and password. This, as you can imagine, can have many uses in any mod. The software's very alpha right now, so please see this more as an opportunity to test forward-looking software than a hard and fast solution.

(This name, by the way, is taken from Flor's Persistence Engine. Basically, I decided that SOMEONE should have written one.)

Half-Life Radio
Things here at E3 are looking good for HL2. The presentation is tomorrow (Wednesday). It really does appear that Valve is going to pull something big for Wednesday. A lot of hard work and planning went into the presentation and everyone seems confident. Perhaps a release date is right around the corner for both the game and the SDK. It's either that, or the E3 limelight is talking. We will find out for sure on Wednesday. We will broadcast the HL2 presentation live on HL Radio as it happens from E3. We will also interview public reaction immediately following the presentation. Guests for tomorrow night's show include Gabe Newell & Doug Lombardi from Valve Software, ATI Technologies, Vivendi, and UBiSoft. Stay tuned to HL Radio as we broadcast information as it happens.
