I just read some great news about Half-Life: Nightwatch (The mod that's at the top of my to play as soon as released list), the team will also be making a "Source Post" of the mod:

I know that this question has been asked quite a few times in interviews and e-mail enquiries, so I'm going to put the speculation to rest.

Are you going to port to Source? and/or Will there be a Half-Life 2 version?

After careful analysis of the technology, the decision has been reached to offer a Source version of Nightwatch in addition to the current release plans. There are, at this time, no plans to abandon development for Half-Life 1, though. We're all very excited about the Source engine and would like those who have purchased Half-Life 2 to be able to enjoy Nightwatch in a higher-quality, more feature-rich environment.

I'll also pre-answer some likely fallout questions:

What will this do to the release date?

The mod's release may be pushed back slightly by this concurrent development process, although we are recruiting additional staff in order to compensate. We know people have waited a long time for Nightwatch, but this compromise will result in a more enjoyable end product for the great majority of players whose machines can handle the Source engine, while still allowing our Half-Life engine users to play the mod.

Will we be seeing Source media, then?

Yes. The next media release will hopefully include some of the new Source stuff in addition to original Half-Life engine screenshots. This obviously depends on what progress has been achieved by that time, so more info will be given about that as the date approaches.

Okay...but if you're doing this, why aren't you moving over to Source entirely?

A fair portion of our potential player base still hasn't moved over to Source, and we don't want to sacrifice playability for them. Also, a lot of very nice content obviously already exists for the Half-Life version, and it would be unfortunate to lose the stuff that can't be ported. If the potential user base situation changes significantly before release time, we may decide to drop the Half-Life 1 version, but there are no plans to do this at the moment.

Great news, and I for one can't wait to see their next media released. As a result of the decision to make a concurrent Source version of the mod the team has opened up several more staff positions, namely in the fields of programming and level design. For more details and for other open staff positions you can head on over to the Jobs Page. For just more on the great mod you can go to the site of Half-Life: Nightwatch.

The staff of compLexity are holding a great Counter-Strike: Source mapping contest in which the winner can win a prize of $1,000. Here some of the details of this great contest:

The Syndicate has a new contest! We are looking for the BEST CS:Source map we can find. The name: "de_compLexity." Make us the best compLexity CS:S map, and you win $1,000.00. Regular map, aim_map, etc, you decide!

The contest goes through February 15, 2005. At that time we will announce how the winner is chosen. It may be via the website, or via our players. Either way, all serious maps will be placed on a coL Pub for all to enjoy.

The full list of details can be found here. Good luck to all that enter the contest.

Eurogamer has put online it's Top 50 of the games of 2004 and Half-Life 2 made it to the number 1 position:

Thank gawd we can stop talking about what Half Life 2 might be like and actually reflect that it was a 'bit good' after all. I gave it a ten, which is as rare as a quiet day in Central London, if only for the fact that even the bits that had me stuck had me furiously trying again, desperate to get to the next section and to see what else Valve had up its sleeve. After 24 hours of HL2 in the space of 36 hours, you could say I was a bit drained by the end of it, but it's was worth the extraordinary lengths. Now all we want is a few expansion packs and their work is done.

You can check out the numbers 10 to 1 here.

Source: RoadKill Warriors
There are more than twenty more images available on the RoadKill Warriors website.
DAMN! It's almost more than 4 months since last webupdate, very very very sorry about that!

We hope you folks havent forgotten about RoadKill Warriors! I can understand that many of you may think RKW is dead when checking our forums or IRC channel...quite deserted areas i may admit. But it will hopefully all change when we have reached the first public release (hint...jan05).

...and believe me, that's priority number one for all of us! We are now aquiring help from outside to have a better website, with more updates, activities and frequent updates. So that means our website will change again, but this time it will be dynamic and much easier to update for us. We are also aquiring outside help in the code department and hopefully that will speed up the development.

And just to proove that this mod isnt dead but only a bit slow in development we have some new eyecandy for you...

Earlestes has delivered more characters. here are some previews...

JuanDaMan, me that is...Have been coding the weapons and thanx to the guys at IRC's #Unrealscript i have solved several problems (Still some minor stuff left to fix). Nearly finished some weapons ingame, and more are on their way. Here's some screens of some weapons ingame.

I also have finalized the Pontiac GTO vehicle. And since i felt there was something missing in the game i decided to make it a police car. :-)

MadHorse has nearly finished another map + staticmeshes, and its called Abandomed-SAB, check it out!
Another map in the works is an Airport map and ha has agreed to show some early work in progress shots of it.

And since MadHorse has started working furiously on 3dsmax he has even done a Bazooka. Here is a early work in progress render.

Last-V8 delivered a time ago some new concepts. Here they are.
