Demise Of Terra

Demise of terra is a Half-Life 2 modification that I would like to pursue on making. The theme of the mod is fantasy/supernatural that deals with the idea of Heaven and Hell. It takes place on earth in the near future (2010). The weapons and item and such are modern but with little upgrades to them. There are 3 teams in total witch is Team 1: Heaven, Team 2: Hell and Team 3: Earth. You will be able to pick witch team you want to on then select a character from that team.

Teams

Team 1 is the Heaven team. You will be able to select your person from a list. On the heaven team the characters are angels that you will be able to pick from. Each character has different abilities. These angels are not you regular angels. They are heavens warrior angels (Arc Angels). They will appear to look human but are not. They have the ability to open there wings and fly at will. They also have a heavenly glow to them as well witch the cannot control. This will display how strong or weak he is.

Team 2 is the hell team. In this team you will select a character of a demon from hell. These demon are ruthless creatures who have been locked up in hell for centuries. They finally escaped the gates of hell and are running on earth now. The only thing is that they do not look like you think they would. One alive they are only a spirit that you can only fill with a certain gun. What they have to do is seek out other life forms that are on earth and posses them. It could be an animal or a human. Once they posses the body they will start to mutate and form there a real body that they can do some damage in. Depending on what the spirit takes either animal or human it will mutate into that form. For example if the spirit takes the form of a dog it will start to mutate into a dog looking features.

Team 3 is the earth team who are trying to kill the demon team. In this earth team there are to different type of people. The first type is the secret government agents, and the other type are the churches secret hunting team. Depending on witch of them you pick you can have there powers. So lets say you pick the church guys, you will be able to heal other wounded players and such things like that. If you pick the government agent they only have super weapons and very high and good technology.

Objectives

For team one the objective is to save the earth from its demise. They team up with the humans to help save the earth. When they find a corrupted/tainted spot they must fix it before it spreads more. So that means they have to work together and watch each others back.

For team 2 they have to concur earth. They will do this by going around and looking for the best place they think would be good to taint it. They must taint as much as possible in order for them to win. When they taint an area everything around it will die and little demons will pop out at random and will try to kill everything and everything.

Team 3 is the exact same thing as team one. They have to save the earth from the demons.

Weapons, Vehicles & Items

They will all be modern-day but with some upgrades and add-ons and such. I have not get a list yet of what I want to use at the moment but it will be a wide wrong from Shotguns to Rifles and such. There will be a few vehicles that you will be able to use. The demon team will not be able to use them. In the games there will items and special things you can use to improve the game and yourself.

Special Features

There is going to be a few cool and neat features I would like to get into this mod. One of them is the ability to posses another life form, also is to upgrade your self with armor, weapons and stuff like that. Also I would like to add a profile system to save your character for that one server. There will be a number of special features but I am not going to list them all.

That’s just about it for the mod. I have just came up with the idea today and am looking forward to make it. I will now tell you guys a little about myself.

About Me

My name is Steven. I am 16 years old and my birthday is October 5. I love FPS games just love Half-Life 2 Was a huge fan of Half-Life and still am. I live in Canada, Ontario I am currently in grade 11. I like to listen to rock music and I also play the drums.

I am a webmaster. I know the coding of websites but not the design. I am teaching my self how to use Photoshop witch I am alright at I guess. I am also teaching my self to map with hammer witch also I am ok at. I want to start learning to model as well but I am having trouble doing that. I have been coding sites for a few years not. I took HTML in school and also learned Visual Basic but not a pro at it. I also learned a bit of flash as well.

For this project I will be the webmaster and leader. I am hopping to get a good skilled willing team to help me out on this. There is no pay for anyone, it is all being done for free. I am in full need of a team. I think its fair for me to tell you I have no experience in leading a mod team but I am willing to give it a try. In general I Think I am a good leader but we will find out.

Well we're in the aftermarth of our hosting problems and things are slowly getting back to normal, we should have a media release out later this week showing off some of the content that has been produced over the last month, also we will be introducing regular dev journals on our forums for all registered users to view and respond to.

With collective efforts from every developer, we have come up with a list of features we plan on having in the first internal alpha, and I would like to share this with you:

** Means that the class can't be choosen right away, but earned. For the US, You start off as a ranger, and as the game goes on, and you gain points, not only will you be able to upgrade your weapons, but you can move up to delta. For somalia, you start off as a soldier/sniper/medic (they have to have a medic in order to be fair) and you can upgrade to militia (which will have its subclasses of soldier/sniper/medic.

Let me explain how I want khat to work. When you kill the americans or complete the objective, each person, depending on what they did, will be given money. They can use this money for either buying khat or buying weapons. Khat, once bought and used, will make it so the only way they can die is a headshot or a heart shot, shooting them in the legs will not slow them down, unless of course you blow their leg off.

That takes care of the classes. For the first alpha I want at least 1 map, AT LEAST. 2 maps would be grand, but I can settle for one just to start testing out the mod. You have a choice to make the map one of these gameplay types:

Capture- Delta And Ranger forces must capture key members of the local militia and escort them to a UN controlled zone. Somalian combatants and militia members must prevent the capture of these targets.

Humanitarian Aid: Delta And Ranger forces must escort a UN food shipment to it's intended destination and ensure it is stored in a secure location. Somalian combatants and militia members must capture the shipments and escort them to a militia controlled area.

Raid- Delta And Ranger forces must successfully raid and destroy designated caches of weaponry held by local militants. Somalian combatants and militia members must prevent the destruction of these targets.

Rescue- Delta And Ranger forces must rescue downed pilots, POWs or an incapacitated squad and escort them to a designated medic zone. Somalian combatants and militia members must prevent the rescue of these targets.

Intercept- Delta And Ranger forces must intercept and destroy a shipment of weapons being transported by the local militia. Somalian combatants and militia members must prevent the destruction of these targets, and escort them to a militia controlled area.

Convoy: US forces must escort a friendly convoy back to base. Survival of 75% the of convoy is required. Somilian combatants and Militia members must destroy the convoy before it reaches the airbase or another endpoint.

The CPL published an update on the status of the tournament registration for the Extreme Summer Championships, taking place July 6 to July 10 at the lavish Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.

With the expanded 256 spots for Painkiller (the official $50,000 USA World Tour Stop) there are now 100 spots available for registration. Only 8 spots are reserved for qualifiers and no waiting list spots will be offered. For those wanting a chance to enter the $500,000 finals we suggest registering for the USA Stop early.

The $100,000 Counter-Strike: Source tournament has 88 team spots available, and 85 teams in the process of completing their registration to occupy one of those available spots.

The $30,000 Day of Defeat tournaments has 21 team spots remaining but 39 teams completing their registration.

The $20,000 WarCraft III tournament has only one spot available.

The $10,000 Halo 2 tournament has 8 team spots available but 13 teams completing their registration.

The large 2,000-person BYOC has about 1,000 people registered. The BYOC will be deployed and managed by The Planet and Insomnia 365.

Next month the CPL will announce the activities, booths, events and media opportunities that will be available at the summer event.

Note: Please remember that CPL registration is managed on a first-come first-served basis and that teams are confirmed for tournament participation once they have the minimum amount of players registered.

Now with CounterStrike:Source with 20,000 players 15,000 servers, and no VAC available for CS:S servers are being flooded with hackers. I was personally in a public server and mygot a well known hacking group came in and cleared the entire server with thier hacks. It disgusts me when people pay good money for their game server and to lose all the people playing in their server.

But a recent chat with my friend that works at Valve said that to expect a release sometime next week. VAC 2 also will be ten times more aggressive than the original VAC for half-life, and will also be equipped with all the recent cheat detection system. Although I was able to talk to him he didn't give me much info, but VAC 2 will be an actually release not a BETA that VAC 1 was.

I myself would like to see VAC 2 instantly ban hackers. But it is good to see steam is trying their hardest to try to ban the steam accounts that are reported. If you happen to get the STEAM ID of the hacker you could email steam and they will look into the problem and with success ban the account. Until then reporting it to steam is that only way to fight "The War against Hackers". Also expect a steam update sometime next week for VAC 2's release.
