Source: The Battle Grounds
The first official BETA version of Battle Grounds 2 for the Source Engine has been released and is available for download below. The BG team and especially the recently aquired new members put a huge effort into the development of BG2.

This BETA version is far from being complete and you may encounter issues or bugs. But it is already a hell lot of fun to play and should give you a clear idea where we are heading in the future.

A steam account AND owning Half-Life 2 is required to play Battle Grounds 2.

Feel free to set up a mirror but don't forget to let us know about it.

The source code (not required to play) is always available:
source code zip file or tar.bz2

More information about the ongoing development or how to run/compile a dedicated server, etc. can be found here.

Please also take a look at the open job positions for modelers and texture artists in the newspost below.

The following screenshots were taken during tests of the last beta versions and not all show the current state of the game.

Ok, so we didn't make on our promise for more renders the week after our last update. Sorry for misleading everyone. But, now we have something much better. I have to say the atmosphere has changed a lot over the past 2 weeks on the ES Team. We are starting to use a new management system, and things are going more than smoothly. It seems like everyday we have a slew of progress in the animation, the sound and even the voice department. Eternal-Silence has gone through a huge transformation. It feels much more solid and polished now. Our latest build has gotten nothing but praise from our testers, and we're continuing with the trend. We will be inviting many new testers into the program soon, so make yourselves known to the community and you will have a good shot.

Well, onto the star attraction, our first pair of screenshots. We've commited ourselves to a weekly build schedule now, so I can pretty much guarentee there will be many more of these in the coming weeks. Today I bring you some pretty static shots of X-ray's map, ngm_frigate. The map is pretty much a standard NGM frigate, complete with a hangar and a few subsystems. It's a small map aimed at 8 players or less, and it plays pretty well. Here they are:

That's all for this week, hopefully we have left you all wanting more, and we will sure deliver. Next update: Flamethrowers, napalm and Ion Cannons for Everyone!

See you then,
MadMech

Update: We are looking for level artists. See the join the team page.

  1. Models must be chosen from the list of Brawl characters.

  2. Models must be between 3000 and 5000 polys.

  3. Each must have a maximum of one 512x512 pixel skin for the face and mouth, one 512x512 pixel skin for the body, one 256x128 texture for the teeth, two 64x64 textures for the eyeballs and two 64x64 textures for the pupils (take a look at what valve did for the hl2 models to see what we mean). 5. Models must fit to the proportions of either the male or female biped skeletons, download them here. However, compiling your models and textures into HL2 format is not necessary, but it is HIGHLY encouraged, and will help submissions further gain points over others that are not compiled.

  7. Must be your own work, or if teamed up with someone, have permission to use thier work.

  8. Limit two submissions per person.

Animation
The Brawl team has spent hours making an animation system for the mod. We have the biped skeleton models for you to download and rig to your character model. Use your imagination and make the best "Son-Of-A-Bitch Fighter" you can.

(All models submitted are thereafter the legal property of the Brawl Mod Staff. Rules subject to change until Sept. 1, 2005. The staff of Brawl Mod reserve the sole rights to declare winners, or declare a state of default in which no winners can be chosen, and can decide whether or not to restart the contest)

Source: Hammy-Bob
Hello there Hammy-Bob Mod fans….wait what is that you say? Now explain to me why in the world you think HBM 3.1337 is never going to be released!?! Well I can finally say that we are closer then you think to the release of the biggest and greatest version of HBM ever created! Thanks to Stuffie HBM 3.1337 will include World models (models you see when you pick up the gun), Comical idle animations, and of course a bear with a apple on his head. The good news doesn’t end there though HBM 3.1337 includes new features such as the return of the cluster grenade and a pistol that now shoots like a machine gun and can gib people with its pistol whip. When HBM beta 2 was released people were amazed at the number of maps and player models/skins added, but don’t think we would quit that after beta 2 many new sequels and fixed maps have been added to 3.1337(about 200 maps) and what would a HBM release be without new crazy and interesting looking characters (300 player models/skins). So remember to keep your eyes peeled to the front page because hopefully HBM 3.1337 will be released very soon.

Source: Move In!
You all should be playing Move-In! by now, but there is no playable version available yet. But i can offer you some more detailed information on our progress:

97% of Move In! is finished, and thats a fact. There are only 3 more or less minor bugs that keep us busy. And as we promised, the Move In! team will not rest untill we got rid of them.

The following bugs are troubling us:
  • finish the maps

  • fix the playermodel-animation

  • model and skin the playermodel-heads

nemesis takes care of the maps, that wont be a problem. but for the two other todo's we need your support. Move In! will not be finished for quite a while if we do not get your help.

If you have any experiance with modeling, skinning or coding and dare to approach the task, please contact SwissError. We appreciate every effort!

And here some new pics for you:

We would like to thank everyone for their interest in Samurai Legends and assistance during the closed beta testing. The closed beta revealed a large number of serious bugs and issues not encountered during internal testing, which would require a great deal of time and effort to address and fix properly. The students working on Samurai Legends have graduated and are now working in the game industry, and no longer have the time to continue development on the project. Unfortunately, this means we will not be able to continue further development for Samurai Legends. It was an ambitious project, and we are proud of what we were able to accomplish in such a short time, but we simply do not want to release an unfinished product. We hope you all understand, and thank you again for all your help and interest in the game.
