I am proud to say Half-Life Gaming has a new feature. Map and Mod reviews. Expect it to be updated often.

I just got the first map reivew in by Gimpinthesink.

The map reivew can be viewed HERE and by also clicking the Review button under Features to the left.
Here is a little taste of it:
This texture set is one of my favorites and it has made an appearance on a few of the really good maps and this is no exception it makes you feel as though you are somewhere in Egypt and fighting around some lost area. Although there are a few misaligned textures as you can see in the picture but not too many to notice.

The Lighting has be done well and is pleasing to the eye as it's no to dark in those little crevices and not to bright when your out in the open although saying that there are a couple of spots where it could do with being just a tad brighter but not much.

We are doing alot of changes in the mod gameplay and design.
Actually we had 2 mod ideas for half-life 2. A multiplayer TC mod where you can drive with vehicles, shoot and fight in big citys in deathmatch style.
The second idea was to create a multiplayer realistic fighting mod without weapons, with online duel mod. Little arenas, each player has own special and finish moves, 1on1 and 2on2 tournaments and kill'em all gametype.

We discussed the whole weekend and asked a lot of real life friends who are playing half-life what they thing about the mod ideas. Finally we made a decision.
This mod will be a "multiplayer realistic fighting" mod for half-life 2.
The design document of the fighting idea is allready written as we can say, and online soon.

The reasons why:
We love fighting, sins playing games like street fighter 2 or mortal combat.
There are so many tc mods out there, we want to have a unique mod idea.

LagRange is working hard on repairing the particle system. A bug was detected where the particles were not cleared when there was a map change or map reset. Give him a cheer for trying to figure out how to update the code to clear particles.

You can show your support for LagRange and the rest of the team who are workin hard by joining the forums and posting frequently. Haveing a forum that is very active will not only show the team that there are people wanting and waiting for this mod to be one kickass game, but it can also attract mappers, coders, animators, modelers, and anyone else involved in the design process.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the new Clash of the Ages site. We soon hope to be releasing more, but for now, please take a minute and peek at the music and models sections. Also, the team is looking for skinners, a couple different kinds of modelers, and animators. If you feel that you meet requirements to fill one of those positions, and want to join the mod, go ahead and contact us. Hope you enjoy your stay! Check out the forums, and I recommend the Penny Packer Show.

Nice little status update from the guys over at G.H.O.S.T. OPs: The Avalon project. If you have not checked out the interview from a few weeks ago click HERE.
news, well we are on the move. now if i can keep members from disappearing, or becoming busy, we can actually get the game out. we are close to a release. i will be releasing a new wad, and map conversion tool shortly, so if you have built maps for ghost already with the old wad, the conversion tool will change the names over to the new format. any custom textures you will have to change yourself. the particle system now allows for custom textures, the new code has extensions that you use in the texture name so it recognizes what it is. This last release included all the weapons, so we are finishing the player code, and working on the scoring, and other tidbits of code here and there. Just stay tuned and we will keep you updated.

There is some controversy with your mod depicting a real and present situation. How do you respond? Do you actually support one side over the other?

Since I cant change anyones fundamental beliefs with a one paragraph blurb, I will say is that we fully intend to present this mod in a tasteful, fashion (if that can be applied to any war). We will tread lightly, and depict things in a realistic, but decent, manner. I and many others see no difference between this mod, and a game such as Desert Combat. Many people believe suicide bombers will be in this game. No. There will also be no gratuitous civilian massacre.

We do not support either side over the other, and we never will. We arent here to judge, just make a great game.

There is also some exclusive media that is available on hl2grounds website so check them out.

Once HL2 is released many modifications will be rising and porting to the HL2 engine, Do you believe Promisedland will stand out from the other modifications? If so why

Other mod's focus usually on cepts. Terrorism for example. Ours is much more focused, and I think that it effects the player on a more emotional level. Were also going to have some innovative gametypes. Helicopter insertions, our 'Drive in' game type. The game itself will be very intense for both sides. Lots of movement, lots of action. We're also going to strive to be realistic, but not realistic where it makes the game boring, and a hassle to play.

Iron sights will be used heavily, there will be no crosshair, and little "action" play in Promised Land. It will focus more on individual engagements. Action in the sense of Quake 3.
What do you have to say to the people that may think this mod is a poor idea/concept?

We really plan to create this game with care. Nothing will be graphically obscene. There wont be any suicide bombing buses, no missions where killing civilians are involved. No 'children vs tank' scenario (I've seen the picture a million times since the mod went pubilc). Both side will (perhaps unrealistically) be equalized. This goes along with our "realism to a point" mantra. The whole idea is that the player has fun, and is immersed in an environement he or she probably hasent seen before.

Well I have finised the new design for the site. The only thing left for me to do is redo the message boards and then open them to the public.

I will be releasing some more media in the next few week so stay tuned. If you are interested in helping out with this mod, please e-mail me at mjcs@hlgaming.com.

There will soon be a complete restructuration of both the singleplayer and multiplayer teams.
After having decided what was to be done, we are currently looking for people with specific competences who could take the places left vacant by all those who are leaving the team (there are two reasons : lack of work or decision to leave).
What we need is the following :
- 6 mappers
- 1 modeler
- 1 sounder
- 1 beta-tester (only among the people from the community)
The mappers will be either multiplayer or singleplayer, whereas the others will be both. Of course, we only recruit people who already have an experience with Half-Life modding.
I remind you this work isn't paid and an evaluation of your level will be necessary.
For further information and to apply, an email adress was created : recrutement@stargatetc.com.
thx to Hitboy for the translation.
