We apologise for not posting any news items for almost a month, but most of our development staff have been busy lately.

To start off, Jason has finished the collision detection system for MechMod Melee, and Jason/Pcjoe will now be working on damage implementation and tweaking of the melee system.

Weapon Icons

When you select/change weapons ingame, our HUD displays a pop down weapons select menu - comprising of icons for the different attacks. Our sprite artist, SSJS has finished working on designing the weapon select sprites/icons, which shall be implemented in our code shortly.

Here is the entire set of finely crafted attack icons for our first HL-1 release:

lass Concept for Half-Life 2

As most of our fans know, MechMod is a modification for Half-Life 2 - but our primary goal is to release a stable and fully working beta build to the public on the Half-Life engine. The team has agreed on a certain class concept to follow for Half-Life 2 development, whenever the SDK is released.

Keep watching our home page and forums for updates, our mod team is extremely dedicated and we are working hard to bring a first-class Mech/Gundam mod out to the public as soon as possible.

Source: Water Wars
Water Wars needs a lead coder. If you think your up to the challange then head on over.
He/She will finish the job and see the mod get to the final release stages and if we run into any problems after release will help do a fix patch.

Will work staff and other coder on team. For your hard work you will be on the staff. Free webhosting pop3 email and to top it off 400 dollars richer.

Before you get all happy (if you cant code dont reply) You will need to be very well proficient in the HL SDK and the other coder will know if your bullshitting. You will not get paid till the end of the project not before or during. One coder accepted then backded out and we are not going to be stupid and pay when you can just back out. You will be faxed a contract (legal) and you will need to mail or fax it back.

Again we are serious about getting WW finished and to the fans.

HL Earth Bound just recieved a new site so check her out.
The main site went down for approximate 2 minutes, there for my apologies. As you can probably notice it was needed to upload the majority of files to display the new site. Over the past few days I’ve been personally working hard on it. With the help of Soulstriker we completed the new design.

Major bugs which we oversaw can be reported in this topic, we know a few which are hard / almost impossible to break.

Thanks for your patience and enjoy the new site.

Source: Black Dragon
As the title may suggest, it has been an up and down kind of week around here. On the negative end, we lost two members this week. Both Kittycat and George will no longer be able to contribute to Black Dragon. We wish them the best of luck with any future projects they may work on.

On the positive end, I have found someone to re-do our website. Our current one feels like it needs a face lift and some organizing. He is an individual with great talent and imagination. Personally, I can't wait to see the work that he produces.

Thanks for taking the time to read this short post. I wish everyone a good week.

Source: Hostile Intent
I have a couple of things to tell you in this update.
The first tidbit of information that I must relay to you is that Hostile Intent has moved to its new home over at www.hostileintent.org. The Hostile Intent forum also has a new web address, http://forums.hostileintent.org, and you can also find The Hostile Report over at their new home http://thr.hostileintent.org.
For those of you who do not know what The Hostile Report is, it a portion of Hostile Intent which is by the community for the community. Right now the guys over at THR are looking for a few good people to help round out their staff, submit custom artwork, maps, sounds, etc…
Next I want to let you know what we have planned for release. We plan on doing a two part release. The one we are wrapping up will be the main chunk of the update. This will include the following from our changelog:

  • Added ejecting shells. Their lifetime can be set by cl_shell_life [seconds]

  • magazines drop during reloads

  • hi_button_load doesn't have to target an objective anymore

  • hi_button_load can have a sound be played upon completion

  • added hi_spawn_manager; used to control groups of spawns, set number of team respawns

  • fixed a bunch of reloading bugs

  • doubled the range on nightvision

  • added cg shader glow/blur effects (cg_glow 0/1) – thanks to DeathWish (http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?go=tron1)

  • if spec_teamonly is on, you can no longer see which players on the other team are dead

  • changed flashbang fuse to 2 seconds

  • Fixed the bug where it could not be determined if you were prone on the client side. This fixes several things, for example prone recoil is now the lowest (it was using standing recoil before)

  • prone mouse speed reduced

  • fixed observers partially respawning if they switched teams during the spawn period at the start of a round

  • made more entities reset properly when a round restarts

  • tweaked weapon accuracies (increased, especially sniper rifles)

  • made grenades drop if a player dies while priming one

  • fixed voice comm icons revealing who is dead/alive on your team

  • "delay before reset" in hi_button_load works now (for non-objective targets)

  • made raised gun lower if player moves while prone

  • removed the weapon select sounds

  • removed the sound that played when everyone spawned (gun pickup sound)

  • fixed death animations not playing when player is holding m16

  • Made player corpses stay. They disappear when a round restarts

  • added mic click sounds (can be disabled with "cl_mic_click 0")

  • selecting flashbangs from the equip menu gives you 2 flashbangs per slot now

  • map can set equipment restrictions (check hi_global in the FGD for brief explanation)

  • map can set multiple player models

  • added/fixed particle impact effects for concrete, wood, sand, grass, players (blood)

  • decreased number of rain particles

  • add cl_weather [0/1] to allowweather effects to be disabled

  • added player count to team join buttons (known bug: the count is sometimes incorrect)

  • added weapon switching delay

  • "enemy down" radio message only plays automatically for kills where the victim is fairly close and visible to the killer

  • added "enemydown" command to report kills manually

  • decreased player speed when looking through sniper scope, instead of forcing it to lower when the player moves too quickly

  • added fade in from black as player zooms in sniper rifle

  • increased shotgun ROF

  • added N/A images to equip vgui for disabled weapons

  • made weapon lower when player uses a hi_button_load

  • added radio spam prevention (maximum 4 commands allowed in last 10 seconds)

  • hi_button_load can be set to allow direct use only, meaning it can't be used through a wall or another solid entity

  • moved flashbangs to slot 4

  • disabled sprays

  • raised crouch FP view point slightly

  • lowered standing FP view point slightly

  • made equipment vgui change selection to EMPTY if default selection is disabled

  • made round end messages more detailed; also prints an even more detailed message in the player's console and the server logs

  • many other small fixes and improvements to the code and FGD

We will also see some of the maps updated.

The second release which will follow 7-10 days after will be some player animation updates that will remove the “skating” issue, a new map (hi_basque), and a couple of other maps that needed some last minute fixes.

We plan to have the major installation of 1.3 out to you in the next coming hours, so stay tuned.
Server admins will receive a server side version first, and then we will release 1.3 to the public.
We do not foresee a 1.2-1.3 upgrade due to the amount of changes listed above.
We are sorry for the delay, but we think the wait will be worth it.

We´ve done quite a lot of work since our last update, and you can see some of this stuff. A bit of everything - concept art, work render and a final render. Definitely check out the model of sub-machine gun called Pinpoint-2, which was made by our talented 3D artist Sectoid. But I am sure that other images also worth a look.

From now on, we will slow down in showing media-related files, until the release of Half-Life 2. And hey, stop by in our forums and sound off about the First Moon mod, we will appreciate it!
