The team of Resistance vs. Combine posted a media and development update over at Half-Life Fallout. Here the development update:

Similar to half life 2 deathmatch, but more team based.

Development so far:
- A class system is planned and being refined at the moment.
- Testing has begun on our first maps. All maps are tested to see if they meet the desired gameplay.
- Website is coming back soon
- Half Life 2 Deathmatch server up and running 67.19.133.7:27015 all of our maps are tested on there. Although they are only avaliable to our members and beta testers.

Some great new media has been released by the Off Limits team:

Maybe it's the time of the year, maybe it's the release of HL², or maybe we're just warming up, but again our team has a lot to show for the last month.

Reason and Penguin still live up to the high standards we've come to expect from them. Reason skinned the xm8 and the lr300ml, while Penguin finished the MP5k.

Swirlee also kicked off in style with some slick character concepts. The first piece is a Vanguard Trooper. The second one is a female Vanguard model. Since she's too damn sexy to call her that, we've named her Erin.

Simon has made our new presentations, and has created the view model for the Rogues' hands.

Last, it is an honour to us concept artist Gerhard Moszi has done a frame for us. Feast your eyes:

A lot is going on right now as well. Off Limits got covered in the January edition of PC Gamer UK. This has motivated the team into even more activity than usual. Reason has nearly finished the Savior IX Railgun, Penguin the H&K G11; Simon is modeling the new Alien and Swirlee is having fun modeling Erin's curves. Jake is finishing up the animated ingame version of the Red Devil, and purerage joined the team, a talented mapper you might already know as the creator of the HL² map dm_lost_isle. Myself I've dived into the SDK code, and am working on a first decent alpha. I'm implementing a GUI and basic teamplay gamerules, my first challenge being the implementation of a battlefield-style minimap with spawn selection. Long story short, expect another large news update in the very near future.

On a side note, if you think you'll make a good addition to this team, feel free to contact us any time at maarten@off-limits.be or simon.wt@pandora.be. We're especially looking for experienced mappers, animators and a coder who can find his way around the SDK to back up our existing members.

Head on over to the Off Limits site for more, the site will also be getting a new look so stay tuned for more.

Normally I do not post news that quickly (Yet) about a custom Half-Life 2 Deathmatch map, but HL2Files.com is now hosting a map that as far as I know is the first to bring objective based team play to the Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. The map Half-Life 2 TDM_Doyowide is made by kasasu and can be downloaded from here. Here are some more details:

Description:
A beautiful Half-Life 2 team deathmatch map.

Combine and Rebels each have one spawn point, spawn point will shift with every destroyed target.

Team Rebels must destroy 3 targets and Team Combine must prevent Rebel's invasion, simple.

Rebel's 1st target:
Target is combine control booth.
If you push the button at left of gate, controll booth will appear, destroy it by RPG or GRENADE.

Rebel's 2nd target
Target is combine control booth.
If you push the button at bridge, controll booth will appear, destroy it by RPG or GRENADE.

Rebel's last target
Target is energy supply.
If you find up and downing sphere, destroy it by RPG or GRENADE

If Rebels can't destroy the last target within 30 minutes, the victory is Combine's.

As said you can download the map here at HL2Files.com.

Good morning everybody, today is christmas so I though I would take the time to wish you all a happy and safe holiday and discuss some things with you.

As most of you all are aware of, there has been some issues lately on this site, regarding banning, comment spammers etc. The primary reason for this is basically the site infrastructure. I started this site over 2 years ago with my little html knowledge. I had no idea that It was going to be this big, so obviously, one of the effects of this is anonymous commenting. I do not have the nessisary coding knowledge to tie the comments system with our forums, so we can have an integrated comments system with registration (which would most likely solve this little problem). If anyone however does have this knowledge and wishes to help, feel free to send me an e-mail.

There also seems to be a problem with the staff not updating the site as much as in the past, I do not know personally why they do not updat the site, but I assume that they, like myself have grown tired of DoD after playing it for many years. I will try to see what the problem is with them, however if this is the case, then we will most likely need to take some drastic measures to ensure that the site is updated regularly.

Rest assured though, I have no intention of closing this site down, and I believe that with some work, we can make the site even better for the release of dod source (which we will support fully).

Now onto another note, your all probably wondering why I am back early, well Id rather not say, but I will be leaving again within a few months.

Again, I will try and work out the problems we are having, and I hope you all will stick with us through this tough time.

Merry X-mas and happy new year
