The CPL announced updated registration statistics for The Cyberathlete® Extreme World Championships and taking place Wednesday, July 28 to Sunday, August 1, 2004 at the brand new Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.
5,000 people from 55 countries are currently registered to participate in the event. Over 1,500 competitors are registered to participate in one of five official tournaments, offering a total pursue of $275,000 cash. 2,000 spectators and 1,000 BYOC-only attendees are also currently registered. 150 members of the press and 250 sponsors and exhibitors will also be in attendance.

The event will host over 30 exhibitions, including the Intel Pavilion which will have a large stage area for concerts, final matches and spectators. Intel is the league's primary sponsor, other leading sponsors include: NVIDIA, Hitachi, CompUSA, and The Planet.

Additional exhibitions will be hosted by Shuttle, BenQ, MSI, Corsair, Electronics, ABIT, L-com, Dreamcatcher, CPL Store, Radioactive Clown, Mad Dog, Centon, Antec, NowMicro, Creative Labs, Atari, Novalogic, NCsoft, HP and PNY Technologies. The exhibitions will offer about $100,000 in prizes for a number of unofficial tournaments and contests.

Spectator passes will be available at the door for $20 per person. These passes are good for the entire event or for any day of the event.

Additionally, the CPL announced its Winter Event (with an expected $200,000 purse) to be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas from December 15 through December 19, 2004. Online registration and hotel reservations will open after the summer event is completed.
