Related: Dark Forces Redux
A re·dux (rç-dŭks') "Brought back; returned. Used postpositively."

"Behind a veil of secrecy the evil Empire is creating a doomsday army--one that, if finished, will become the final cog in the Empire's arsenal of terror and domination. Your Mission? Join the Rebel Alliance's covert operations division, infiltrate the Empire, then battle every man and machine the Imperial Forces can muster. Search a vast galaxy for clues, attack enemy bases - all in a desperate attempt to stop the activation of this fearsome new weapon."

Ten years ago, one man took on the Empire and saved the Alliance. The original "Dark Forces" by LucasArts was released in 1995 and for that time, was groundbreaking. It was this game that originally introduced us to characters such as Kyle Katarn, and Jan Ors who can now be found in titles such as "Jedi Outcast". Using todays technology, methods, and expertise, this total modification for the "source" engine is aimed at completely overhauling every aspect of the game. We will be essentially telling the same tale in all new ways. For those who remember the original, there will be a chance to immerse yourself in a completely new, yet familiar environment and those who never played, there will be a chance to relive a classic tale, with todays standards and technology. Not only do we know you will be watching, but Justin Chin will be watching to see what new things we can bring to the dark forces world, as well. DFR (Dark Forces Redux) will be both multiplayer and singleplayer, and will add on many things to the original story. Vehicles, new weapons, and more enemies amongst many other "additions."

From the deepest canyon on Danuta to the tallest building in the Imperial City on Coruscant, terror and darkness lurks behind every corner. Will you be able to once again save the Alliance? Or will the armies of darkness prevail, destroying everything you have come to know?

Mappers
2. Experience with making HUGE maps, typically RTS, but on a Source Engine medium.

Information/Content
3. Someone that can keep up to date with the news of the mod and beable to write stories, events, concepts, etc.
Half Life: Warzone is a Real-Time Strategy total conversion for Half Life 2. This isn’t your typical half-life 2 modification. Warzone is taking Half-life to another level and that level is every RTS player’s dream. In Warzone, the player will take control of one of three factions in the Half Life universe: The Combine, the Xen, or the Human Resistance. Commanding an army all his own. The player will wage war against other players and AI opponents, fighting for the ultimate control. With Warzone we are shooting for a total immersive and well-balanced and, of course, incredibly fun gaming experience. Each faction will be represented as they were in the storyline of Half-life. For the player, they will get to handle the specific units they only saw from a distance while playing Half-life. They will fight for their survival or until all have kneeled, some will fall, some will flourish, its your choice…. in the WARZONE…!

Please visit our site register on our site. Or please apply for one of these job's above.
We need your help to create a truly great Mod !

Source: Hammered
We have a great update for you all today, PeppyFool has let Hammered host up MAPfool a program made to ease the conversion of your Half-life 1 maps to Half-life 2! In other words it will make the amount of reworking you would normaly have had to do a lot less! Sounds good huh? But wait it gets better! MAPfool comes equipped with a few different operations so you can get your map up to date in no time! such as changing your old HL1 entities into their HL2 equivalents, or even update your old AAAtriger or sky textures to the HL2 Equivalents saving you lots of time if your are updating a big map!

For a more in-depth look we have taking a snippet from PeppyFools website http://www.peppyfool.com
-------------------------------------------

Texturing
  • View the textures used in a map file, along with their frequency of usage

  • Export individual or all of the textures used in a map file to .tga

  • Convert exported .tga files into material .vtf files

  • Auto generate generic .vmt files for both regular and transparent textures

  • Globally prepend (insert before) a folder name in front of all the texture names used in a map file

  • Globally replace a texture name from a user supplied list or file

Editing
  • Let you view and analyze all entities and their key values in your map file

  • Replace all usages of obsolete texture names (like AAATRIGGER) with their Source equivalents

  • Convert obsolete entities (like func_wall) into their new Source equivalents

  • Auto "explode" func_water into world brushes and texture it with tools/toolsnodraw

  • Delete individual entities or all of a particular type

Analysis
  • Generate a sequence event summary that shows which entities trigger other entities, the order of firing, and the time to fire.

Source: The Storm of Steel
The Storm of Steel officially opens its doors today, And we have some renders to show off.
But now that we have got things kick started, We are looking for new blood for the team, So if you think you have skill, And want to undergo this modification, Please head over to the Contact page; We currently need:
  • Modelers: Vehicle/Weapons/Characters

  • Skinners Vehicles/Weapons/Characters

  • Mappers/Animators and other jobs need to be filled too, Please visit the Contact page for more information, And how to apply.

Now for the renders. Here we have the SMLE Mk.III British rifle:

The original model was invented in 1895, nicknamed the "Long-Enfield", It was very unreliable, And didn't handle well, But during the second boer war, The british troops were pitted against boers armed with german Mauser 98 rifles, Which were very effective, And outmatched the british rifles by far, It was to this that the british armed forces realized they need a new rifle, Many prototypes went through, But it came down to the SMLE (Short Magazine Lee-Enfield), Which at the time was the Lee-Matford (Named after the inventor J.P. Lee, And used Matford rifling), But the rifling was changed to enfield, Thus the Lee-Enfield, This rifle replaced all other rifles currently in british service, And was used un till 1941 by all commonwealth countries (Except canada).

And the Pattern 1914:

In 1903, Eight years after the first Long-Enfield had shown up, Britain saw the need to replace the old models, And then came the Pattern .276 (It had no official designation at the time), Which was to replace the Enfields and the .303 round, And through many trials and tests, It proved to be an effective weapon, But the .276 round proved to be too damaging to the breech and chamber, And was replaced with the vickers .303 round, Which was now used by most british weapons, But all factories were fully set on making the SMLE, So britain went to the United States (Who eventually adopted the P14, as the M1917), And signed Remington & Winchester to produce them, Although the P14 was scarce as a main rifle, It served most duty as a sniper rifle, Fitted with a scope, And remained in services till World war 2.

Last but not least, The Lewis .303:

Invented by U.S. Colonel Isaac Newton Lewis, Although the United States favoured the Browning Machineguns, The british and all the commonwealth adopted the Lewis, And in 1913 Colonel Lewis set sail for belgium, To sell his new weapon, The belgian army was impressed, And took the weapon into their service, A belgian factory even bought the rights to manufacture the Lewis, German forces invading belgium gave it the nickname "Belgian Rattlesnake"; The british made different versions for sea and air use, And was known as the most reliable machinegun around, And was finally adopted by the U.S. in 1917, And remained in british service un till the 1930's when it was replaced by the lighter and more effective Vickers Bren LMG.

Well that concludes this news, But be sure to check back for more updates soon, As we have plenty more where this comes from.

P. S. The forums will be up soon.
