Well after some reviewing by the crack set of server admins here, ktrain and Negley, we have found that some issues we are seeing are linked directly to Metamod and AMX.
We highly suggest that all Server Admins do the following:

Use Metamod 1.17p21 & Jussi's amx modx 1.01

I also have found from searching around that Metamod-P 1.17.4p23 may also be a good solution to helping correct issues.
Metamod-P is enhanced version of Metamod. It has dynamic link-entities and automatic detection of Mod DLL and other improvement to allow it work with future Half-Life Engine updates and new Mods and updates.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is special in this version of metamod?
  • Hardcoded linkents have been replaced with dynamic linkents. No large list of entities that get outdated fast as new mods come and old ones update.

  • Extra enginecallback function slots, for future engine updates. Valve have to add 128 new functions before Metamod-P gets out of date.

  • Autodetects gamedll for unknown/new mods (so you don't have to use metamod-config to make Metamod-P work on those mods).

  • Because of reasons above, you basicly never need to update metamod again anymore. This works all future mods and updates.

  • Better performance/less CPU usage than original Metamod

If you are a server admin and use any of these, please let us know how your server is functioning over in the Server Admin section.

BicB@ll has also noted in the Server Admin section that the map cycle may need to be edited as a small issue with optimizing textures has cause some fun, but obvious errors between HI_Basque and HI_efreeti.
You can read about it here. It is suggested that you make sure the maps aren't next to each other on the map cycle and avoid switching between the two maps.

I have a few more thank-you to had out here.

First is the the guys over at http://www.trunetworks.com
They have given us such great support during the past 2 releases with file mirrors. They alone this release have provided a huge chuck of mirrors for HI1.4.
Many thanks to you guys for the support.

I also have to give MJCS and the staff over at http://www.HLGaming.com a huge hug. These guys not only provide us with our webspace, but they are also our FTP providers and major players when it comes to file hosting. I thank-you guys for believing in us and all the support you give!!!!

Source: No More Room in Hell
Recently three new members have joined the "No More Room in Hell" team, so I would like to welcome our new Programmer/Modeler, Anthony 'DarkCypher' Hollis, our new Modeler/Animator, Son 'Sonk' Kim, and our new Programmer, Erik 'TheViking' Plet.

DarkCypher is an avid 2D and 3D character creator with a professional coding career (Compuware). He has worked on a variety of mods over the past few years and is known in particular for his coding and model work for such mods, such as:

  • Resident Evil: The Escape (Half-Life Mod), as a Coder/Character Modeler

  • Titan Warfare (Serious Sam Mod), as a Coder

  • Xtreme Combat (Serious Sam Mod), as a Coder

  • Legion of DOOM (Quake 2 Mod), as a Mapper

Our new modeler, Sonk, will be working with us to create new prop, character, and player vehicle models, but he has also created models for 'NAM (Half-Life 2 Mod) as their Leader/Modeler. Here are some samples of Sonk’s past wire-frame model work, provided courtesy of 'NAM:

Our new programmer, TheViking, works professionally as a programmer and has over 7 years of experience in the field. While this is his first mod we are certain that he will be able to provide us with high-quality work due to his career expertise.

Of course we are continuing our efforts to locate new team members at this time. In order to help facilitate these efforts a new section has been added to the website; "Job Postings". All potential applicants who wish to join the team can now review the available positions and fill out the online application form that has been provided.

This week we're going to be talking about some Source-based projects from folks other than Valve.

The team over at Plan of Attack released the first version of their game, which focuses on strategic team game play, where the players on each team are presented decisions at the start of each round that impact the flow of the game. Here at Valve we got a chance to play the game before it was released and had a lot of fun playing with their development team. Congratulations to their entire team for getting it out the door, and we're looking forward to watching it evolve over time. Head on over to their website to download and play the latest version.

Another interesting Source-based game has been announced today. The Alien Swarm team launched a new site showing off the Source version of their game, and IGN has the first preview up on their page. We're all looking forward to seeing what their team can do with their game using Source.

Lastly, we promised some new media on the Counter-Strike: Source version of de_inferno this week, but we didn't quite have enough time to get everything together. We're now shooting for getting that done next week.

Bellevue, WA and Los Angeles, CA - April 29, 2005 -- Valve and Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) today announced the settlement of a pending federal court lawsuit filed by Valve in August 2002. The parties have resolved their differences, and the settlement provides for the dismissal of all claims and counterclaims. Under the settlement agreement, VU Games will cease distribution of retail packaged versions of Valve's games, including Half-Life®, Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike™, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Counter-Strike: Source, effective August 31, 2005.

Cyber café operators that were licensed by VU Games have also been notified that any license agreement from Sierra Entertainment, Vivendi Universal Games or any of their affiliates or distributors that may have granted rights to use Valve games in cyber cafés, whether written or oral, is terminated.

Evening, mates! Our apologies for keeping ye in the dark for so long on the production of Mist Mod, however rest assured we have been very busy at work preparing Mist for ye landlubbers. Here are a few photos from two locations on the Mist Isles, mapped for ye by Neoptolemus and Nexus, honored deckhands aboard the Mist crew.

The first set of photos are from the Sunset Caverns, a coastal chain of caverns that the Cursed Pirates have been using to store their treasure in. The Cut Throats have found the Cursed Pirates secret lair, and are invading from their sloop that shall be harboured in the bay, which will be revealed at our next progress report along with some more detailed photos of the lustrious treasure inside the caves. This will be the first presented map of the Capture the Booty game mode, which will be highlighted in our next crossing.

The second map is the abandoned ghost town, now known as Lost Souls where it is rumoured that a hidden treasure map lies within the haunted church on the island. The Cut Throats and the Black Buccaneers have become aware of its existance, and will fight to the death in this Deathmatch style map for the rights to the map. Beware though, the town is still inhabited by the ghostly spirits that once inhabited this tropical town, so be ready for some 'spooky' happenings out there.

Lastly, we have a preview for our next spotlight map, currently named 'Lighthouse,' which will be a 'Conquest' map.

We would like to put the call out for any Character Modellers out there, who would be interested in working aboard our ship. Our lead Character Designer Jackal Hit is doing an excellent job bringing our piratey designs to life, and would be very pleased to have a first mate of his own to help out. If you fit to the following preferences:

-Experience creating high detail Character Models.
-Extensive knowledge of a 3D Modelling Program such as 3D Studio Max 7 or XSI: Softimage.
-Ability to work off Concept Artwork.

The following skills are appriciated:

-Ability to model or unwrap 3D models.
-Experience creating custom skins for the Source engine.
-Experience working on a previous mod team.

If ye feel like hopping aboard, please contact us at anonymousity@mistmod.com. Thats all for today, stay tuned for updates on our Capture the Booty and the unique Plunder gamemodes coming soon.

Source: Dystopia
Over the weekend members of Team Dystopia and the testing team piled into my house for a development LAN. The focus of the weekend was play testing and bug squishing. I can report back that it was very successful. Having our PCs set up in the same room allowed us to track down a couple of long standing issues, once we worked out the causes Ted quickly squished the bugs.

A lot of work went into detailing and touching up sections of Termi's map, Dys_Vaccine. Caliban also spent time creating custom animations for our nifty movement system, as well as setting up environment maps for the character models. While Bioxeed was treating our ears to a taste of his latest Dystopia track, I hammered through a bunch of php code to generate even more stats from the server logs. The stats system piggy backs onto the excellent code Epicar has written to dump out all sorts of interesting information at the end of each round.

To celebrate the success of Dystopia Dev LAN #4, we have two new wallpapers. The first was painted by DaaDaa and shows off the Corporate Medium model. The second is a high quality render of Church's Punk Medium model.

Also for your viewing pleasure is an in game screenshot snapped during last night's playtest session:
