Source: Incoming Source
Incoming Source has been in the making for a little bit over a month.
Origionally developed on the Half-Life 1 engine and later moved and re-created on the Source engine. Incoming Source focuses on epic combat. Containing large open and varied maps, both drivable vehicles (with usable turrets) along with flyable vehicles. There will be 16 new weapons along with plenty of other features including iron sights for tactical aiming. In celebration of all of the work that has been completed within the past month, we are re-launching the website with a brand new layout along with new media and a new forum. Incoming Source's team is already large and very talented, but we can still use some more talent.
Positions Still Availible:

  • Player Animators

  • Animators

  • Shader Programmers

  • Texture Artists

  • Concept Artists

  • Mappers

Incoming Source has made plenty of progress. We have a working tech demo including gameplay modes along with other features accompanied by
4 weapons currently ingame. We have currently have 11 maps on the Source engine being updated with new map models along with custom designed textures. Visit the brand new website for a complete listing of progress from this past week along with some of the new media.

With the new website launch we also have something for our fans every Friday. There will be a weekly update containing at least two images and one video usually relating to the images. Visit the site this Friday for our first (of many) Weekly Updates showing off one of our new, completed maps. The weekly updates will be accompanied by journal logs containing each bit of progress that was completed during that week.

We have had a great time thus far on developing this game. We cannot wait for the upcoming weekly updates to show you all of the media we have. Visit us on IRC at:
#incoming-source (GameSurge.net)

And be sure to make a visit on friday for the first weekly update.

On the development front, we're making a lot of unseen progress. But due to lack of staff we aren't able to implement the code without the models to go with it. Which brings me to why we're really putting out this letter.

Many of the original mod team--which formed nearly 3 years ago--are now pursuing other professional avenues. We're proud of our comrades, but the situation leaves the development team dwindling. Fortunately the members we do have left are committed in every respect. We find ourselves in the minority of most mod groups. Where most mods have an abundance of content creators and are looking for coders. We--on the other-hand--have all the coding power we need but completely lack any modelers or texturists.

Without these talents there is simply no way for us to implement any of the completed weapons, not to mention things such as player models and props. We're calling out the modding community for help. Please visit our site and help get the word out. It'll be a great mod when it's finished.

If you would like to participate in our open beta testing, simply log into the site and the mod is for download on the lefthand side of the page. Alternatively you can visit this forum thread and post your interest in the mod-->

Today is my 20th birthday, so I thought I'd throw a little birthday party by posting some news!

Quak has implemented the swaying of weapons. This allows you to move the weapon freely around the screen instead of focusing on the center. You got to follow the barrel, not a crosshair, to know where you are shooting at.
As for weapons, ecks has been working among other things on a Colt M4a1 and some animations for it. However we are still looking for someone to skin it - please get in touch if you want to do so!

The last three months I have been busy working on the map canal which nears the completion now - about time I show you some media, right?

Hello all you zombie fanatics. Summer is close to an end and most of us have started school again, except for the people who have finished school. But this will barely slow us down. We have gotten many new member additions to RETEB. Members such as:
  • Linear (Coder/Modeler)

  • Vlada (Mapper)

  • Wim (Modeler)

  • Yu-Hsuen Haung (Modeler)

RaulXpT has done a spectacular job with his fat zombie . It is still a work in progress but is coming along nicely. Our second map (inf_sewer) is pretty much finished too, I just have to tweak somethings and edit the atmosphere to make it as creepy as possible. Other maps are close to being finished as well, such as inf_church and inf_city. Some coding has been finished too. We are making progress, but need more help to get things moving faster. We would like the following:
  • Modelers
  • vCoders

  • Sound Artists

  • Skinners

If you are interested please post in our Join Team Forum or email me at Tomalajr@hotmail.com. But for those of you who dont feel like reading whats been happening at RETEB then here is a media update:

PantsOffinPublic has made us a song with some of his friends. You can get it here http://reteb.hlgaming.com/teb/modules/mydownloads/

Day of Defeat: Source (DoD: Source), the latest version of the WWII online action game from Valve®, will be made available to gamers everywhere on September 26.

"Day of Defeat has quietly been one of the most played online action games for the past three years," said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. "Day of Defeat: Source represents a major leap forward in both graphics and gameplay, and pushes the Source engine harder than any other Source project. "

DoD: Source takes the classic teamplay of DoD and expands the experience with Source, the engine technology Valve created for Half-Life® 2 and it's next generation of games. With this technology, DoD: Source offers state of the art graphics with optimized versions of popular maps and all new player, weapon and world models, plus support for HDR lighting.

DoD: Source leverages the power of the Source engine by introducing advanced sound technology to provide a more immersive soundscape and integrated physics simulation technology for ragdolls and physically simulated objects throughout each map.

Available via Steam for just $19.95 and in the Counter-Strike: Source retail package, DoD: Source is a rebuild from the ground up of Day of Defeat on the Source engine.

DoD: Source will be available for pre-load and pre-order next week. Those who purchased the Half-Life 2 Silver or Gold Steam offers will receive a request to pre-load the game at this time and will receive access to play the moment the game is made available.
