I got an e-mail from Amy at Sony pictures today stating the following:
For Screen Gems new vampire/werewolf movie "Underworld," we've teamed up with Half-Life and I'm excited to tell you about a new mod we released today. The game is a variation on capture the flag over two pretty large maps. The thing that makes this version different is that instead of flags each team is trying to capture a live character. Players choose to be vampires or Lycans (werewolves) and battle through a cityscape, subway tunnels, sewers, the vampires' mansion, over rooftops, and on trains. The goal is to capture the Hybrid, a part-vampire, part-lycan character who can help win the ancient war between the two clans.

John Callahan from Homelan Fed previewed the game and here is what he had to say, "We got a chance to play the mod for a bit yesterday and it's shaping up to be neat little mod that can be best described as "Counter-Strike with horror elements" with teams of Vampires and Lycans, each with different classes and special abilities, facing each other in two large maps that have some great and creepy looking textures."

I think your audience will enjoy this mod so feel free to post this link on your site. If you would like to host the game yourself, please email me so we discuss this.

To download the game, go to here

Here are some specs on the game:
. Half-Life 1.1.1.0 required
. 2 game maps
. New variation on "capture the flag" using a live target
. 16 players per game, teams made up of Vampires and Lycans (werewolves)
. 8 distinct character models (4 Vampire and 4 Lycan)
. Each side has superhuman powers
. 10 weapons, including throwing stars, whips, automatic guns, grenades, and knives
. 2 hidden super weapons
. 4 timed rounds per game, players switch sides each round

Quasar did an interview with Black Panther from The Battle Grounds you can find it on our news post here HalfLife-Mods.com or the full interview Here
Quasar: What made you want to make this MOD?
Black Panther: Well I'm not the founder of Battle Grounds. I was looking for a mod with already a released beta because all the previous mods i worked on were never released. At the time i joined the BG team Ben had just taken over leadership from Negion who was one of the founders and responsible for the early 0.5 and 0.6 builds. I did general design, art, models and PR. And after some months Ben retired as leader and encouraged me to take his job and here we are now.

Halflife.org has interviewed Christoffer Rødvik from The Little People

Snibbit:

Dabaz: Now what has the initial response been to the Little people’s new ideas on modding and how to structure a mod team, throughout the community, as you have seen them, or has the response not really been what you had thought it would be?

Christoffer Rødvik: Well basically we are pretty new, and as you said this is a new concept in the community. We have seen small map groups, model groups and so on but a huge independent mod group is something new. As of now we haven't been seen by many other teams but so far the response has been really good from the public.

You can read the rest of the interview over at halflife.org

Sven Co-op interview:
HomeLanFed
Timmay: What can we expect to see with the Half-Life 2 version of this mod?

Sven Viking: A lot. I’m afraid we can’t talk about much of it just yet, but I believe that it will be much more enjoyable and satisfying to play than Sven Co-op (and I really, really like SvenCo-op). I’m exceptionally excited about getting to play it myself, once we have an alpha set up.
