Given the fact that sgmod.hl2central.net Stargate SGC are producing way too many models for us to keep up with (not to mention their newly-released MALP), I've decided that, instead of losing talent that could still be of a great help, I'm going to offer their leader to combine the two mod-ideas into one.

Hey everyone I am know sure if you read this, or posted it up on your pages, but I wanted to set the record straight. We have never, nor plan on this merging with any mod. Not even sure what mod this is. No one has contacted us, nor have we contacting them. We have a very strong mod team. We are still looking for a few people, but have no plans on combine mods with anyone. If you do need to find out anything about this mod, please contact me, I am the Relations person for it.
Well anyways they did send us the finished version of their MALP :). This is looking to be a really good modification.

The Water Wars team have created a amasing way to create water shadows for the mod

Water Wars is pleased to show off the newest trick that we have created, and formally we call it "Water Shaders". What is it? Well its a little hard to describe, but lets just say mappers are able to create Unreal Style water effects on walls, or a nice water fall effect, or say a water that apears to be hitting and creating foam.

The effect came about when a mapper came to our forums and posted a trick on how to get water to shine on the walls, the link to it is right here. However it was not the best way to do it , since it took up to many ents.So the team set sail to create a easier way of doing this and make a new taste of effects along with it. So while I was on vacation I kept thinking of how it could be done and I found a nice way of doing it ( I could tell you how to code it, but then I would have to kill you ).

They have also created acouple videos that shows this effect off and you can get it here.

Water_Effect.zip (2.22MB)

Video A: Contains Water with Shaders on the left, and water with no shaders on the right.

Video B: Shows Shaders with no water on the right, and No Shaders with no water on the right.

Belgian Webgaming Forever have a interview with Randy Pitchford from Gearbox Software

Here's a Snippet
BWF: Opposing Force really put you guys in the spotlights. Valve never expected Half-Life to become such a hit. Did you ever expect to suddenly become such a well-known developer? How did all those awards and positive reviews make you guys feel?

Randy Pitchford:

Opposing Force felt pretty good. It was a really interesting project. Rob and I spent some time with Marc Laidlaw before we really got started to learn about the Half-Life backstory and understand where his care was in each of the main characters and we just sort of took off from there.

Everyone at Gearbox put a lot into Opposing Force – we just treated it like it was our own thing. At the time, the relationship between Valve, Sierra and Gearbox was positioned perfectly for this to work out in Opposing Force’s favour. So, the game was developed to be great, it was great and it was really great to get the success and acclaim from that.

I remember sitting with Gearbox COO Landon Montgomery at the 2000 Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences awards ceremony. We were nominated for Best PC Action Game against Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tournament and Tom Clancy’s Rogue Spear – we didn’t think we had a chance. I’ll never forget the look of shock on Landon’s face when they announced us as the winner. I’m pretty sure he saw that I had a similar look. What a crazy, unbelievable night!

At the end of the day, Opposing Force was really was a good idea and it was really executed well by the team. It wasn’t about fancy tech or a huge feature list – it was about a great story, with great pacing and action and really great feeling game play. That’s all it takes – a great promise.
