Flayra from Natural Selection has made a forum post on how the spectator UI will look for v2.1.

Here's some info for it:

- It's more simple, informative and easier to use then the old UI.
- HLTV overview maps have been discarded, and are no longer a part of NS maps. We use the NS minimap instead.
- When connected as a HLTV spectator, this UI shows all information about players and structures on the whole map! When spectating while connected to the server, you see entities just on your team, or just the team of the person you're spectating.
- No more confusing picture-in-picture options or hard to use modes, just a couple options to get you the view you need.
- The new UI should be great for match commentators and referees, as it allows easy viewing of the whole map. The targetted player can be changed easily with a pop-up box, instead of cycling through players.
- Regular non-overview mode is supported, and the UI shrinks to fit a snazzy letterbox format.

Here's some pics of it:

The HiT-SQUAD Team was recently interviewed by hlGamers.com.

hlGamers: Can you first start by explaining to everyone what your mod is about?

Mailman: HiT-SQUAD is an Action/Realism mod set in the world of modern day organized crime. Players will join a mafia family and battle against other players in various urban locations. Automobiles will play a big part in several maps and will allow some excellent car chases.

Shacknews has receved info from VALVe that Condition Zero is to go gold this Friday.

Gabe Newell had this to say:

Condition Zero is going gold this Friday, and will be available via Steam and at retail on November 18th.

The AI that we were testing via the Steam beta has been more successful than we had originally expected, so it has allowed us to build some more flexibility into the mission authoring.

A typical mission in CZ looks like this:
- you have to win at least three times, and have won at least two more than your opponents
- in easy mode, you have to get one kill with a pistol
- in normal mode, you have to get one kill with a five seven
- in hard mode, you have to get three kills with a five seven without dying which may take multiple rounds
- in expert mode, you have to get three head shots with a deagle without dying.

Mission MODers (I can't think of a better name off the top of my head) will be able to create their own missions. The UI and gameplay is data-driven, so once the missions are installed, they automatically appear.

Tour of Duty, is now up on www.HalfLife-Mods.com. It is packed full of information, new screen shots, exclusive 1.3 models, a nice little review by one of our new staff members Cramoisi, and a little video. You will also find an interview with the man himself, Sluggo. You can’t afford to over look this, so don’t miss out.

Interview:
Timmay: Thank you for doing this interview with HalfLife-Mods.com. Please introduce yourself, and tell us more about your role in the development of the MOD?

Sluggo: My name is Pat 'sluggo' Magnan, I am the main programmer (now that is, there were two of us originally) and technical director for the mod. I have been leading things for a while now, and for Half-Life 2, our leadership team has changed a bit.
