There's a huge update on the Sven Co-op site, containing a status report (a team member was trapped in the middle of a massive flood), information on the new player model animations and HWGrunt (complete with video), info on what Computer Gaming World thinks of the mod, etc.

There's also news that Sven Co-op has become the latest victim in the recent outbreak of leaked betas... check svencoop.com for details on what this means for the mod, and why you shouldn't download the leaked beta release.

On the weekend we released 1.2.1 RC3.6. It was received relatively well. We are hoping to be releasing RC4 today followed by 1.2.1 Final shortly. We are very pleased with 1.2.1's state at the moment, and we hope you will be as well.
While 1.2.1 isn't out yet, work is commencing on 1.3.

Here we can see a screenshot predator's new map bg_saratoga, which will feature in 1.3 and as you no doubt can guess from the screenshot the battle takes place in the autumn.

In related news, we have received word that ShoresofVictory (http://www.shoresofvictory.com) is taking advantage of the BGOL and using our source code as a base for their mod. As well as providing SoV with an established source base, it provides us with more eyes pouring over the bg source, finding bugs and making enhancements which are freely available under the BGOL. We wish them the best of luck and will be interested to see where they can take the BG source for SoV.

About the mod.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars: Timeline

Starting 25,000 years before "Episode 4 'A New Hope" The Old Republic is formed among the Core Worlds and Jedi Knights first appear. 5,000 years later a large number of Jedi Knights are expelled from the Old republic after becoming obsessed with the Dark Side of the force. After wandering for sometime, they come across the humanoid beings known as the Sith and enslave the species. The dark siders then become known as the Lords of the Sith.

For many millennia the Jedi know as "the light side" has been the keepers of the peace. Fighting the enemy the Sith Lord in furious battles all along history, and eventual destruction of the dark site, or have they.

This mod will span the full history of the republic all the way from the Sith Era to the New Jedi Order. It will be a SP, and MP mod where you will be able to play as a vast number of characters, with many different weapons. I am sure many of you are asking yourself, "will I be able to fly a X-Wing?" Well the answer is yes. We are planning on implementing space battles. Some of the places you will be able to recognize but many will be new to you. That is if you have not ready the books.

May the force be with you.

Already I have the support from a few talented people but can use more of a staff. But this will be a high detail mod, due to the fact that I want the player to feel like they are interacting with the
movie. With the HL2 engine I believe we can accomplish this goal with your help. If you are up to the challenge of it, please e-mail me at StarWars@HalfLife-Mods.com, with some samples of your work. We do have a web site in development now, but it is not ready it only has a page holder, and some forums.

Blackpanther over at Xmas mod has posted some renders of their new double-barreled shotgun, called the Coachgun. He also says that the release date is December 24th, AKA Christmas Eve. The mod looks to be great fun. Expect to see huge explosions, many more maps than Beta .5, and much faster gameplay.

A tiny update has been posted on the Sven Co-op site, just to allay people's fears that v3.0 of the mod will not be compatible with Half-Life version 1.1.1.0.

The new Jurassic Rage Winamp skin is now publicly available. Elkz from the JR team made this Winamp skin after many requests from the community. R3men4nt will be releasing his Steam skin publicly very soon also. The skin works for both Winamp versions 2 and 5.

I was able to recently set up a TFC server on edge. In the future I will set up DOD, CS, and NS. For those of you who want to try out the TFC server connect to 69.41.227.146:27016 in steam. There are not that many maps on there right now, just the standard pack. I will in the next few weeks add more custom ones. For now enjoy :).

As many of you noticed, Shores of Victory took a downfall. Due to some team issues and as well as Steam issues, the team unofficially disbanded, and Shores of Victory was left for the dogs.

But, many members of the original team, and a few new members weren't going to let SoV roll over and die, it was time to breathe a new breath of life into this once triumphant mod, and that's just what happened.

Our maps are near completion, some skins need touching up, animations are being done left and right, and our code is steadily moving along as well. Despite this, we're still in need of a qualified programmer to help get SoV to the finishing line and out to you all.

So what are you waiting for? Stop on by the site at http://www.shoresofvictory.com, our forums at http://www.shoresofvictory.com/forums, and as well as our IRC channel #shoresofvictory on irc.gamesnet.net. We're all looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, and some new ones as well =)
