First of all happy New Year I hope it's started well.

If you haven’t already seen Halflife2.net has had a bit of a face lift and we’ve added some new content. You may remember our famous ‘Valve only’ thread in our forum. We’ve burrowed in there and organized all the information as well as added further new stuff. You can find this in the new ‘Valve Speaks’ series in our articles section.

We’ve also got a load of concept art and community submitted art on the site which is worth checking out.

Sven Co-op is, as you've guessed, a Co-operative mod. Over the years it has seen a vast number of improvements; new maps that get better with every release, fantastic weaponry, and of course a large array of monsters and nasty Humans to swipe the floors clean with you. Most maps have objectives, and most maps have a vast army of monsters between you & your goal. Now it seems like your average Vanilla HL singleplayer so far, but let me tell you it's anything but that. The monsters are tougher, they work together better & it is very easy to get overwhelmed. Suddenly you see where the Co-op aspects work; to stand a chance you have to work in groups, covering fire & healing each other when needed. Wherether it works well depends on who you're playing with, but if they're good than you'll notice the difference. It's an amazing feeling to work together fighting through a map - although sometimes (although this really depends on the Server or the people you play with) gameplay feels a bit random as people run to the action instead of moving together.

The Sven Co-op site has been updated with (among other things) a fix for the Sven Co-op 3.0/Natural Selection 2.0 compatibility issue.

In addition to this, "RE: The Awakening Part 1" -- MrFranswa's Resident Evil-inspired Sven Co-op add-on featuring multiple player classes and game-modes, all new weapons and enemies, etc. etc. -- is now available for download. There's also a bonus map for AfrikaKorps -- MysticMTD's WW2-based Sven Co-op mission.
