Counter-Strike update and a game engine update were originally scheduled for tonight, but have been postponed until tomorrow morning. Here's a list of the changes included in the update.

  • Players on the offensive team who survive the round due to a round timeout no longer receive money the next round.

  • The Terrorists get an additional $800 per player if they plant the bomb but lose the round.

  • Fixed exploit where when a player died they could sometimes join the other team during the same round.

ENGINE:

After some time the Steam status page has been re-done with a new graphical interface. It shows graphed network stats instead of a long list of severs and used bandwidth.

HL2 Grounds has interviewed Argyll, Spydr, and Jeremy!

Here is a snippet:
...
Javert Can u give an in-game example of how teamwork will be incorporated? Will you have a leader/general model?

Argyll We are organizing the Army team into different Squads. Within the Squads are certain positions to fill (such as Riflemen, Support, etc.) This will encourage teamwork among the members of each Squad along with the entire Platoon. Combined with the Squad based system, the Objectives of each map will require a minimum of 4 soldiers to capture. They must hold the objective for a designated amount of time and once capturing and holding each objective for the designated time by the mapper, victory will be achieved.

Kent, UK – 12th January 2004 – The Thunderbolt Network is pleased to announce a new promotional website for Clan Recruiter. The new website has been built in response to the overwhelming number of enquiries and feedback received by the Clan Recruiter team.

“When we announced Clan Recruiter two weeks ago, we never anticipated the level of interest that we received,” said Philip Morton, director of The Thunderbolt Network. “We’ve had a huge amount of positive feedback from gamers and press alike, with suggestions, requests for game support, offers of help and more. Our new promotional website reveals much more information than the first one and is a glimpse of the final site’s design.”

The new promotional website can be found at www.clanrecruiter.net and contains a news section, a full supported game and mod list, a FAQ, an about page and full contact details.

Source: The Somme Valley
I'm from the newest modification to hit the Half-Life 2 scene: The Somme Valley. -TSV- aims to be a realistic and fun representation of The Somme Campaign (Battle of the Somme) of 1916, where British and French forces lead a massive offensive on German territory. Unfortunately for them, it did more harm than good, and after nearly 6 months of fierce fighting, General Sir Douglas Haig called his troops back, which lead Germany triumphant.

We're currently looking for team members, as all new mods are. Anybody who feels they have something to contribute is welcome to stop by our forums
(http://somme.hlgaming.com) and show us some examples of previous work, or stop by our IRC channel (http://somme.hlgaming.com/irc.shtml for more
information) and talk to one of the ops. Or, they can contact me directly at chiefphillips@somme.hlgaming.com.

But most of all, -TSV- needs support. So I encourage all history buffs and war gamers to stop by our site at http://somme.hlgaming.com, and to stick around the community.

"It’s true that rocket launchers beat just about anything. Just like the weapon no cool game can be without, a gigantic mini-gun. The problem with these symbols of manhood that Uncle Sam is so ken on, is buying one yourself. At first, as children, we are brainwashed with superhero ideals, then we continue to live our fantasies in games, at last we get depressed that it only was a game. The evolution is depressing but not hopeless. By grasping plastic phoneys, made by Uncle Sam’s friends in Taiwan, we managed to escape the worst identity crisis. The fact that we where shooting water, plastic bullets or peas and not lead, on each other, didn’t matter. It gets a little too creative when the substitute war is done artificially in Water Wars. Quite frankly one could say its going one step too far. But it can surely be fun."
