As stated in the previous post, I have been neglecting this site...I hope to change this and many other things. First off I apologize for not posting on a regular basis but do to time constraints I was unable to. I have been going to school each week a total of eighteen hours and have been working at my day job anywhere from twenty to thirty hours per week. Not including time for studying and homework that is thirty-eight to forty-eight hours per week.Even with this grueling schedule, Half-Life Gaming.com is constantly on my mind. I joined Half-Life Gaming.com back in December of 2002 as a news poster (No I was not the webmaster then). Then in early 2003, not to long after joining, the site administrator left due to personal reasons and I took the reigns. For a time, I received help posting news from various people and I thank them greatly but just as the previous admin, life caught up to them. From then on until present day I have been posting news alone with the exception of some great and not so great help along the way, and have kept Half-Life Gaming.com alive ever since. I enjoy posting news for this community that I have been apart of since I purchased the game back in 1998 and I have never once been paid to do this service. I have over the years dedicated countless hours in posting news, updating this site, and helping out all of the hosted sites here on Half-Life Gaming. Now over three years and almost four thousand posts later (with over seventy-five percent of those being mine) I am once again asking for your help.I have been wanting for sometime now to expand Half-Life Gaming.com from just a great site to get news and hosting site for our beloved Half-Life and related mods, and start to have at least monthly reviews, articles, an active forum, and so much more. On that note I am asking for your help in the following areas:
News PostingFile Uploads
- Probably why most of you enjoy coming to this site is/was the constant update of news. Now you can post the news like I enjoy doing (just sighting the source from where I got it from and copy-and-pasting, adding proper formatting, and then uploading photos if need be) or summarize the news post and also quote a bit from the mod. Keen writing and communication skills are a must in this position as well as a broadband internet connection.
Content Reviews
- Something that HLG has been lacking for some time is a nice selection of downloads. You would be responsible of obtaining, uploading and cataloging files pertaining to Half-Life and related subject matter. A broadband connection is required for this position like all of the others.
Some other things to consider before e-mailing me
- You can be a news poster, file uploader and do content review or just do content reviews; it does not matter. What does matter is knowledge of the community, what is going on, excellent communication skills and most importantly, great writing skills. With this position you would also be working with me to keep all of the other non-news pages up-to-date.
- Are you able to dedicate a few hours every week to doing your job?
- Are you mature and professional enough to be working here? (You must be 16 or older)
- Do you think you will have fun/ejoy this type of work?
If so, please e-mail me at mjcs [ a t ] hlgaming [ d o t ] c o m and please include all information that is needed for the task you would like to help out in. (For the file upload position please provide a sample summary of a file and for all other positions a sample news post or review of a mod (one paragraph is fine) will do.)Thank you all and I hope to be hearing from you soon.~ MJCS
Its been a long time coming, and we should delay it a little longer, but we've decided to release it anyway. A big thanks goes to everyone who has made this project possible over the years by contributing to it or encouraging those who have! The reason we were going to dealy the release is that there is a small issue with the installer where you have to select the directory above your "Half-Life" directory, otherwise it will install to "X:/blah/half-life/half-life/movein", so please keep this in mind while installing. Also, there are a few graphical glitches when using ATI graphics cards, such as the overview map will not display properly. The MI team is still dedicated to the project, and we will be releasing Beta v1.1 ASAP to address these issues and to add new content. Please report any bugs in this thread. If you have any suggestion write them down in this thread.
Updates to Day of Defeat: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:New MapDay of Defeat: Source
- Added dod_kalt with High Dynamic Range (HDR) lighting
- Fixed players getting stuck on models
Now, we have heard many concerned over the actual percentage of completetion Perfect Dark: Source has achieved; thusly, we are proud to announce that the mod is approximately 90% done. However, this is a rough estimate and with recent SDK and several related software updates, many if not all of our old animations have stopped working creating more work to be had before our tentative beta release. Onto the media updates:Mapping :Iggy never ceases to amaze. His latest Felicity update is definitely worth checking out (and yes, those blue rings do spin):Traize has supplied Seldoon182 with some new concept art to aid his recreation of Sewers: Remember Temple is on the borders of the Cetan solar system! So could it be forgotten by the Human species yet?Of course not, Gectou4 has been working hard on stylizing the map after the Cetan race (remember those long forgotten aliens the Skedar got their technology from? Neither did I) and is ready to show some fruits of his labour: MODELINGUnfortunately, Tonedef has had to step down due to personal issues for an unspecified length of time. We appreciate everything you have done for us!The Falcon 2, modelled by Tonedef and textured by Iggy, was briefly displayed of picture of the week, for those of you who didn't catch it: [More Information is available via the Perfect Dark Website]
The CPL launched today a preliminary version of its Summer Championships 2006 website at www.thecpl.com/summer2006/. Soon the CPL will add new sections for music concerts, conferences, workshops, C3, media partners and qualifiers. The site already has the official summer event wallpapers. CPL Founder and President, Angel Munoz said; "We cannot wait to unveil all of the activities we have planned for the CPL summer 2006 event, some should really surprise the gaming community. We suggest bookmarking the new site to stay on top of all the activities as they are announced." The Summer Championships 2006 will be held July 5, 2006 through July 9, 2006 at the Gaylord Texan Resort, located in Grapevine, Texas.
Hey everyone. We've been having our fair share of problems in getting the forums and rest of the site back up after the hackers had their way with us and we do appreciate your patience while we work through them. The whole thing has taken a lot longer than we anticipated and to make matters worse, the site downage also meant that we lost our main source of funding. It's probably not obvious from the outside, but Constellation donations have been my main income and have enabled NS development to continue (otherwise NS development would've stopped part-way through development of NS v2.0). Development on NS:Source has been predictably slow during this time as well.Since our funding essentially dried up, it caused a ripple effect to the NS team. Karl "XP-Cagey" Patrick was working full-time on the site and some future code and suddenly that couldn't be sustained. So now Karl is off working at Stormfront Studios and we're left with a site that is essentially complete except for some mysterious time-out bugs and a couple loose ends. It's working well enough to be used privately for the developers and playtesters, but if we opened it to the public we're afraid we would have to bring it back down again due to these problems. So what we are in dire need of now is a PHP/MySQL programmer that can rapidly get up to speed on our code (which is very clean and well-organized) and kick butt over the next week or two to fix these last issues. If desired, we would also love this to be a full-time (although unpaid) position and would involve adding new community features and integrating more tightly with the game. We have lots of ideas for how we'd like to improve it and if we had a dedicated programmer tasked to it, I think the whole community would appreciate it.If this is something you are interested in, PLEASE e-mail me immediately. If it looks like a fit, we'll have you sign an NDA then get you access to the code base ASAP and you can get cranking. The NS team and whole NS community would really appreciate it.In more upbeat news, we have gotten some very serious inquiries by investors recently and are following up on them. We are also in the process of choosing a CEO for the company. If and when this funding comes through, we will be able to get that office, hire those first key people and make some major announcements about our future games! After two years of looking, it looks like our persistence may finally pay off. Furthermore, we won't have to beg the community for free help because we'll be able to hire someone full-time. :)In summary, things have been a bit slow these past few months but our future is starting to look very bright. Thanks for hanging in there and being as patient as you can!
First of all, we would like to apologize for the lack of updates and the apparent lack of activity around the Borg Wars mod for the last few months. It has been since last year's November since any real public activity has been showing, and many people have since then been coming to us asking, you guessed it, Is Borg Wars dead?Well obviously, we are not, as testifies this update. A few of us are still pretty active and we communicate with eachother very often. There is a good part of the team which has been in hibernation for most of this time, but that is caused by the re-organisation that is occuring amongst the team. I will spare you the details of this mess, since most of you would probably fall asleep reading the ongoing list of adjustments that have been made or are going to be.As always, we are in need of help, but fear not, we're not helpless even though we just lack a a few team members. You can contact either MJCS or DaFranker regarding entry in the team, and any contribution is greatly appreciated. Please be able to do the following:On a lighter note, MJCS has been working a few more tricks lately. The most noteworthy are the refit of the current website, as well as a new teaser trailer fresh from the orbital docks, which you can download below. Also, updates will now happen much more regularly, and the lack of activity on the forums, IRC channel, and the overall community is expected come back even stronger. Finally, have a nice week, and enjoy the video!

Today I bring all of you people some media to feast your eyes on, some weapon renders and a new map!We have a showcase of weapons that are very different to each other, a pipe that is the melee weapon we all know that you must fight with at the start of any game, a pistol which like the melee weapon, no game is complete without, and finally we have the grenade, so when you decide that camping isn’t just for Counter-Strike you’ll be put back in your place. Also here is the sewers level, and I know you don’t have to tell me, “it is too dark” well guess what, it is the sewers, they aren’t exactly Vegas!
