I would like to start off today by thanking everyone for the positive feedback regarding the updated backstory. It will now serve as the basis for the rest of our development.

As well, I would like everyone to welcome two more members into our ranks:

Kittycat: Concept artist

Excellent work has been done by this individual. His style is different then the rest of our artists, so I am really looking forwarding to seeing his vision of Black Dragon.

SpaceAce: Modeler

This guy entered our forum with a work in progress of the trooper transport concept we showed before. His work is excellent and he will be a big boost for our team.

I would also like to thank Warhead for all the awesome recruiting he has been doing as of late. Each week brings in more people that help to make our team more complete.

Thanks everyone for reading these little updates and see you next week.

The cover of darkness was used by armies to sneak out of their trenches to retrieve bodies, install barbed wire, repair trench defenses, or to go on raids. While some soldiers slept during the evening, officers and sentries kept watch over the no man's land and kept a keen eye and ear for movement outside of their trenches. If suspicious noises were noticed, a sentry may call out a password. If the password was not returned, or the raiding party fired at the sentry, a flare would quickly illuminate the battlefield, often resulting in a furious burst of yells, explosions, and machine gun fire.

Flares could also be used to signal groups from a distance, telling a force to attack, retreat, or flank an enemy. Officers will have the option of sending up a signal flare or an illumination flare but be careful, the flargun is not a useful weapon and an enemy raider could easily take you out before you can alert your men to arms.

Outstanding job Rotzbua, Oelund, and Mach on the Webley Scott and "FEK" Flare guns!

I have a couple things to show you this week. First off I have created an HLEB Coding Outline. This has been posted in the About section along with another special link that is dedicated to the HLEB Manual! This has been started by SoulStriker and will be released to the public once we are near release. In addition, we are nearing another Inteam release! Almost everything is ready so I hope to be getting some more screenshots for you guys as soon as possible. But until then you're just going to have to settle with a picture of HLEB's Sword of Kings:

Former CPL champion Dan Hammans (aka Rix) has signed up to participate in the $25,000 Painkiller tournament after four years of retirement. Dan Hammans had an impressive career at CPL coming in fourth place at CPL's first event in 1997 (The FRAG), then in 1998 he won two USA CPL events back-to-back (The CPL Event and FRAG 2) on two different games (Quake I and Quake II) and then in 1999 he came second place at Extreme Annihilation.

Dan helped found IHOS, the first Clan for players such as Tower, Terminator, Suicide, Thresh and Batch. During T2, IHOS nearly upset the eventual champion Ruthless Bastards. This Clan, and his involvement, were responsible for much of the Quake Clan developments during the formative years of the sport.

In my last news post I told you we were waiting on Quakers latest map build and we've finally seen it. tsv_beaucourt is set during the closing months of the 1916 Somme Offensive, where troops of both sides had not only to contend with each other but also the onset of harsh winter weather. Also pictured is our custom-made WWI style barbed wire courtesy of Mortar.

Also, due to a mixup the last images of tsv_peronne I posted were not the latest so I've reposted them here. I'm sure you'll agree Adolfs new lighting is a great milestone over the old.

Chief will be updating the maps page soon with the relevant info.
Finally, just a reminder that were still accepting beta applications until about Sunday. All the relevant info is here
