well, not much has been happening on the developers forum. Mappers have been plugging away from what I hear, but what you all want to know is whats going on with codeing.

here's the current fixes/features done by LagRange, they may or may not be in the next beta release, its yet to be determined.

-handgun now does damage

-explosion graphics now fit the explosion damage radius

-reputation system has been modified

-equipment costs more

-restocking ammo costs reputation

-Heavy armor can only be used by the team leader

-if the teamleader dies, mission fails

thats not everything thats been added, but its pretty much everything that would be concern directly of the average player. If you want to know more, check the forums, some more modifications may have slipped out into a few posts, so get to those forums and read up.

The CPL announced today that it has selected the ten country partners that will host stops for next year's $1,000,000 CPL World Tour™. The ten stops will be announced at this summer's Cyberathlete® Extreme World Championships and all partners will be introduced to the members of the press attending the event.

Additionally, the CPL announced that the tour will feature only one game, and the tournament format will be one-versus-one. The cash prize distribution will be announced next week.

The CPL will also host other tournaments beyond the $1,000,000 World Tour during 2005.

A new Half-Life 1 mod has just been released by Scottish based games developer Outerlight. You can find the mod here - http://www.theshiponline.com

About the game -
Imagine a game in which you don't know who to trust, you don't know who may be about to kill you, in fact you don't even know who is human and who is artificial. Played online, your quarry is another human player but can you find them amongst the AI inhabitants of the Ship? Once you know who they are, find yourself a weapon but keep an eye out for security guards and cameras. If you're spotted trying to murder someone you'll be transported to the Brig and suffer a hefty fine. If you succeed in killing your quarry Mr. X will reward you with a cash prize, depending on how entertaining he found your murder. At the same time you must look after yourself, wash, sleep, eat and have fun and remember - always look over your shoulder because somewhere there's a player looking for you!

Source: Insurgency
Today we bring you another 'major' update that is even larger than our last!

Along with this update comes our official change over for the new name of 'Insurgency.' This is just simplifying our previous name of 'Operation: Counter-Insurgency.' Many people are wonder what the shortform will be and we have decided to use the first three letters of Insurgency: 'INS.'

We also have the new domain www.insurgencymod.net, but www.opcoin.net will remain working until it expires.

You can now find the Forums at: forums.insurgencymod.net

And now, here is what we have worked long and hard on to bring you:

This may actually look like less, but we have decided to post only skins, with the exception of vehicle models. You can find other weapon models in the Intel sections about each Team. Keep watch on Hl2Fallout.com because they will be having a preview of us including some exclusive new media! We will tell you about that once it happens.

The Sound Department has also produced another sound demo for you all to enjoy! You can get it from our Media Downloads page.

A new feature that comes with the new website is the Mod Tour. This is designed to provide you with a general idea of the mod. More detailed information can be found in the pages under Briefing and Intel (at the left side navigation).

Finally, check our new Jobs page for any available positions on the team.

Well, the Beta Applications are now fully closed, and the first lot of testers have been finalised. So here I'll go, listing who they are:

▪A_Llama
▪BigBird
▪cLoWnInG-aRoUnD
▪FadeToBlack
▪Frosty
▪General Bison
▪M0RPhEuS
▪Moltar
▪Path_Finder
▪Priest
▪Psycho_byte
▪Radagast
▪Shooteh
▪Skilled Pro
▪St0rmer_66

Now, if your name is here, Congratulations, please check the forums. If it is not here, never fear, one of these bums above will most likely not respond within the week they have to respond so you might get their spot!

Just want to say thanks to everyone who applied! It was pretty hard because I had over 200 applications to go through and most were very good. Allthough, I did get a few interesting ones. Those will be seen in "ForK's beta tester picking saga". Look forward to that.

No major developments of late but just summarising what's been going on. Firstly, the final result of the most active poll in quite some time (and a big thankyou to "Frosty the Aussie" for suggesting it). It was a close run from the beginning, noone holding a clear lead. Yet surely enough a pattern emerged and the clear winner was: Belgium! Closely following second (only by 7 votes!) was Russia, and finally the US of A (trailing by a further 8 votes.) I've also started this thread to gain more info from people who had voted "Other" on the poll. After it has been properly researched there should be a new section for the Belgiums appearing on the site. Also, I'd like to remind all that they will only be appearing in HL2, not HL.
Next up, we welcome Teckniel, a talented modeller/mesher to the team. Also, beta testing applications are officially closed. Fork is being pestered to sort through the astounding response we got from the HL community, about 200 in all. Thanks to the various news sites that spread the word for us. Finally, Chief has updated the forums to IPB v1.3.1 giving it a much needed overhaul and a bit of a tweaked look. Bye for now!

Source: Imagination Level Design
After a long wait, Imagination Level design is now up and running.
Hey everyone, well those of you that still visit the site that is. My last update was one hell of a long time ago, and with each new update seems to come a new website, I really shouldn't keep doing this. Although some of you know I had computer problems 2 months ago and I was left without a computer for a while. I've recently got access to a family pc to start some mapping again. The new website design will hopefully last a while. Although with the computer problems I lost almost all previous work including the whole of de_farewell and de_sommar. I am currently in process of rebuilding sommar, but I have also got an aim_map series going on the side, which will be released in the forseeable future. I will get some screenshots up soon.
On a side note when CS:Source becomes available (to those that own Cybercafes and/or CS:CZ) I will create some maps for that, providing the SDK is available. I will indeed be playing CS:Source once I get my new computer which is capable of playing the new game, which will hopefully be in a month or two at the latest. For now the only real content available is my about section and the two maps (ns_glory_b1 and aim_rifle) are up for download. I find the aim map looks terrible but plays pretty well. It will definately help for those of you that need practice with dark areas, long range combat and closed space combat. Just give it a try. Hopefully another update soon, ciao!

Source: Strong Bad Mod
Strong bad mod has been dormant for several months; the site has remained where it is, along with the mod, with no progress being made. Therefore, after the failure of the team, and the complete cut of ties from the previous owner and the website's owner, I am contemplating making this mod open source. Hopefully with the help of the community of strong bad lovers out there (I know you guys are out there) we will be able to not only make this mod a great mod that would make Strong bad himself proud but fans of the movies as well.

Therefore I am asking mod db and various news sites to post this link to the forums where the discussion on whether or not people are willing to help once this mod becomes open source. If they aren’t and no one is interested enough in the mod to make these comments, then the mod may never be released at all, and the maps and models that are already done will stay with me and not released at all ever. Why would I do that you ask? Because right now and for the past months there has been little support from the mod community in terms of programming, mapping, and/or modeling and because of this the mod itself has stopped being created.

So what can you do? If you love half life and you love strong bad even more go to this link on our forums, register and try to get this mod released. If you really are a fan of the series then you won’t let this mod go to waste like so many others have in the past. I want strong bad to be released but as of now all there are, are a lot of fans that are asking for a release which they can’t truly get unless a lot more work is done. However, I am willing to make the mod open source if people are willing to give a contribution to help get this mod done. There is very little to be done, mostly coding, some mapping and modeling, but all the characters are done.

If the mod goes open source all models and maps that are done will be open source as well, along with the small amounts of code. Honestly, the mod is far from being complete in terms of coding but in reality with minimal work from some coders it can be done easily and this mod can be released for the world to see on a level unlike any other mod in Strongbadia. So once I again, if you love Strong bad or just good mods go here and vote. Only you, the fans of Strong bad and great modding can save Homestar and his friends. So please, go here and vote on what you want to do. You will make the difference. http://www.strongbadmod.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=78

Nice informative interview over at the Computer Games website
Computer Games Romania: Should we expect a Collector's Edition of Half-Life 2 close to its release date? Can you give us some details about its contents?
Doug Lombardi: It is my understanding that the Collector's Edition willbe released at retail at the same time as the standard edition. I do not have the final contents, but I can tell you that it will include a mix of extra playable content as well as some collectable type of items.

Computer Games Romania: Are there any anti-cheat measures in Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source?
Doug Lombardi: Yes. VAC will be extended to Source and activated upon launch.

I just got word from BlueWolf72 that Doug sent him some info to settle some of the rumors that have been going around lately.
We are planning to deliver a release candidate to Vivendi in August and
we're hoping to see the product on store shelves this fall but we do not
have a confirmed ship date at this time.
