Well, here is a small update. I have implented a Status window (which loads automatically when you come to the site, or click "Home") which'll give you some insight on how far along we are. Now we have a bit of bad news: We are coder-less. Thats right, until we find a new coder Escape from Pain will lay dormant until we find one. If you would like to apply, please email me at Vash@kemall.net

Thats all for now. (Also, for all you asking: Can I beta test? The answer is no.)

Another version of CS 2D (Alpha) is out!
DarkCorner has released a new version, Alpha 0.0.3.1, of Counter-Strike 2D. There are many changes, bugfixes and additions in this version. Most importantly he moved away from the P2P system and changed over to a client-server scheme.

The whole changelog plus multiple download mirrors (provided by CS BANANA and its friends) can be found on this page. For more information on CS2D check out the official site at www.cs2d.com.

Recently, tools have been made available that can hack into UA-BL. While we believe that the vast majority of fake submissions were filtered out, UA-BL will be closed from new submissions until HLGuard 1.7. HLGuard 1.7 will feature a complete reworking of the system to maximize the security and prevent such an incident from occuring again. Although new submissions are not being accepted those currently banned, will remain banned.

Additionally, we are looking for new HLGuard coder(s). Requirements are:

+ Advanced C++ knowledge
+ Strong knowledge of the HL-SDK
+ Strong knowledge of MetaMod coding
+ Basic knowledge of HLGuard
+ A previous position in the gaming scene

Please contact zero3cool@unitedadmins.com for more information or to apply.

Funny note: this is our 1337 th post :).
A very high resolution (1024x768) Counter-Strike: Source movie is now available, showing two minutes of ingame footage first shown during E3 2004. The Source Engine powered version of Counter-Strike will ship with Half-Life 2 and will also be available stand-alone through Steam later this year

Although all of the art content of RnL has been completed for some time now, we are working to improve our work whenever possible. Ten of the weapons have updated skins, and can be found on the media page.

Members of the RnL team are going to be meeting with Gabe Newell from Valve this Tuesday. Stay tuned.

I would like to welcome another site to the line of hosted sites here at CS BANANA, Counter-Strike 2d. DarkCorner has done a very nice job with the game and even though it is still in alpha status a lot of people are already playing it. The current version relies on peer-2-peer which is causing a lot of problems. Fear not, in the next few days DC will release a new version which is client-server based and should therefore run a lot better. Of course it will also contain other bugfixes and improvements...

If you don't know what CS2d is all about, check out this page for more information on it. And if you don't want to wait for the new version to come out you can download the current one from right here. Welcome to house of bananas DarkCorner!

Disturbing Earth's progress is coming along nicely with lots of new secrets and puzzles. Mapping of the Mansion is continuing and you might just see a snap or two of that in the near future. We are still looking for a 2nd coder to do the item system and RE HUD for us, we are also looking for Monster and weapon Modeller(s) and 1 or 2 texture artists. If you think you could help with any of these don't stop to think about giving us a hand.

New screenshots have been added to the site, they are available in the screens section.

Some of the screenshots were taken with the glow effect activated. This new visual enhancement is available for those with high end computers. Check the advanced options to give the glow effect a try:

Another visual enhancement of 1.0 is the addition of detail textures. Detail textures greatly improve the quality of each texture if your video card supports them:

We also have new high definition scientist and admin models, courtesy of the Half-Life Improvement team:

Finally, we shot a little SI video a couple of days ago that shows some of the new gameplay elements added in version 1.0 such as the EMP Cannon and the secondary mode of the Cloaking Device. You can grab this 1.0 teaser here:

As always with new Science & Industry versions, when a video is done it means the new release isn't too far away...
