Why its taken me this long to update the main page I have no idea, I guess crap just kept popping up and I kept putting it off. At anyrate, the website its self has still been updated with new files here and there as my time has permited recently. For those of you with files pending to be posted in the forums, I have seen them, and they're on my list of things to do, im getting through them slowly, so just be patient :).

As for the content that was to be posted for the resource section of the site, much of it is ready, I just need to format it and upload it. So ill get that up basically whenever I get around to completing it.
As a reminder, if you have a tutorial or any sort of general and usefull information about halflife and modifying it and want to see it appear on this site, see this post:

So yes, the site isnt dead..yet. Keep posting files, i'll get them on here as time and motivation permit :).

This was played on my computer at my house. Not at a cyber Cafe. Just to get that straight.
Game play has not changed at all; it is still a run and gun reflex game. Be warned, if you do not currently like counter strike, you most likely will not like Counter Strike: Source, however it may be worthwhile to at least give it a try. The objectives are the same, terrorists are the bad guys who want to blow up a bunch of crates, and the Counter-Terrorists are the good guys who need to prevent the terrorists from achieving their objective. Since I was playing on the terrorist side, I decided that I would go do the terrorist thing and go blow something up with my c4 plastic explosive. Once I made my way to the bomb site, I planted my bomb on the floor and began to arm it. The first thing I noticed while I was arming the bomb was that your character types a pass code to arm to bomb which was a nice effect. After arming the bomb, I went to what I believed was a safe distance away so I could observe what the explosion would look like. However, as you will see in the video, I was not far enough, and I took some damage when a barrel came flying at me, which in itself is a very cool effect and gives the game a more realistic feel.

The schedule for 0.20 has been messed up a bit (again) due to last minute features and developers going on vacation, so we're changing release policies for now and the future.

While AMXx 0.20 is complete, it hasn't been tested to the extent we'd like. So we've decided to start releasing the RCs (release candidates) to the public. These betas will be "development" editions and aren't recommended for average use (so they will not be supported) - however it is a great way for us to get feedback from people who have the time to test them out, and it also gives developers a huge help in preparation.

We'll start by putting out 0.20-RC2 either tomorrow or a few days after. Depending on the reports we get back, we'll release 0.20-Final in a week or two (IRC stuff will occur then).

Sorry for this, but a strict release cycle is too much stress for an Open Source project. I hope you can all understand, and the die-hard people that were refreshing for 0.20 will have it in their hands soon enough to try out.

--------------------
New features we've added since the original release announcement:
Fakemeta Module has been greatly extended and can hook/forward almost any Half-Life engine function

Extended/revamped portions of the Multi-Lingual system (better formatting allows for things like "%d %L %08s")

Optimized Engine for speed and certain portions of Core

You can now write plugins in a new language, Small-Assembly (hardcore scripting )

Translated Plugins into over 10 languages!

A new version of CSBot has been released which contains quite a few changes.

Mini Changelog:

Changed default view in "Game Publishing" to "Unknown Game"

Added ESC and ENTER handling in the connection dialogs (ESC closes dialog, ENTER connects)

Fixed "round started" message not showing in IRC

Added log cleaning when logging to disk (removed all id's, made it easier to read for web posting)

"On connect" commands will now run before /join

Fixed a restartround bug not updating the player list

Added game description to the INFO command response

These fixes and new features will greatly improve the functionality of CSBot. This is a recommended update.

Well first off I would like to thank all of our new "recruits" to the team. As well everyone else should welcome them.

We have Ezeay who is a laid back coder/level designer, Ryoga who is a mapper, Tornado who is a modeller, and SpinKitty who is a composer/sound engineer. Thank you guys for joining the team!

In other news, we have posted some new info on the About Page. Go check it out.

It looks like .Dev which went down recently due to hosting issues will soon be back up under the new domain name http://www.hl2modcentral.com and its great that they will still be around. I wish them luck with the new host and getting the site ready again.

I've added multiple review support to the map and skin databases, so if you feel a review sucks or has too much nubsauce or you just have a different point of view you can submit your own for others to read! Remember: you don't need to pay us money to submit your own content like other sites. Go banana go.

Well we have returned from Toronto. We have some great stuff coming on both our main site and over at The Hostile Report. We will have more images, more news, and maybe a meeting video or two.
We start this update off with some words from Charles.
Welcome Hostile Intent community to another HI update. This is a big one guys..

I don't update often but when I do I'd like to think it's important.

As most of you know the HI Team had it's first real face to face meeting in Toronto, Canada.

We discussed everything under the HI sun from the next update, to MSA and its future role, to new hires, new maps, gameplay modes, and especially the project's future.

Overall the meeting was productive and incredibly fun. Already we were talking about future "Meets" and some locations mentioned were Quebec City, Europe, and the West Coast, but it looks like we will be having a Hostile Intent ski trip in Burlington, Vermont in December, so start saving your pennies guys.

Now down to the truly important stuff.

A lot of decisions were made between Tuesday and Thursday. It was a long process but everything that came out of it was good.

Here is a synopsis along with some nifty features we will be adding:
· Widget is back on the Development Team and both he and MarmaladeMan have been promoted to Admin.
· Some maps will be declared "finished" so the Level Designers can move on.
· We will be releasing an update soon called 1.3.5.
· The Mapping Team, along with MasterMind, will try their hardest to get a new gameplay mode ready for 1.4, so watch out for a new fgd soon.
· MasterMind will work on Percy's HI Co-Op for version 1.4.
· We went through all the remaining skin work and came to the conclusion that we need more skinning talent.
· Fuse will be looking at some community members to hire in assisting the team. Fuse, along with BIZL, will look into finding talent from their respective colleges.
· We will be on the lookout for texture artists to make high-quality textures for our maps on HL2
· BP is tasked with getting gasmask submodels on all our player models.

Now, on to what we spent most of our time on…besides the drinking and whoring…

Our future and what we'll be doing with it - Well, it would be a shame to kill off everything we made here to begin developing on another engine but we feel we have no other choice (and we REALLY REALLY want to) so we will be shifting development over to the Source engine in the very near future.

That’s right. HI will be on HL2. Pending the timing of HL2's upcoming release, 1.4 will be our last official update. But we will not be abandoning HL, HI, or any of you. We have a plan.

I’ve been struggling with a way to move development over to Source without tearing up the coming release and losing what we already have. I have the solution and it’s a pretty stable one. I can't mention what it is here because it involves the support of many community members that we have yet to discuss it with, but rest assured that even though Version 1.4 is a potential final release by Team Hostile Intent before HL2, it will not be the LAST release of HI on Half-Life.

Why? Well, we have built a fantastic community of great and very talented people. Why would we want to disturb that community by not having an updated product for them to enjoy while we work on the Source version of Hostile Intent? If I had a choice, HL2 would not come out for another 6 months so we can "basque" in the glow of what we created, take a rest, and enjoy HI and some time off. But alas, we must yet again get back to work supporting the community that loves to support HI.

So hang on for more in the coming days and weeks.
