Half-Life: Nightwatch has posted the first portion of a two-part media update, with several new level screenshots being made available for the first time, including views from the introductory tram ride and some of the earlier chapters. The second part of the release, which will be posted in the near future, is slated to provide screenshots from the later chapters as well as other media and a story update.

The mod would also like to welcome new team additions Vincent "Vunsunta"
Miceli, Casimir "Stratesiz" Tuomi, eagle17 and Mr. Saturn, who will be joining in sound engineering, level design, character animation, and voice acting management respectively. We've still got openings for skin artists, character animators, music artists, texture artists, and voice actors, so anyone interested should check that out (http://www.hl-nightwatch.net/page.php?name=join.

All of our new Windows Media servers are up and running! You will have 3 options to connect: Low, Medium, and High. Low setting is for modem/dialup. Medium is a combination of modem/dialup and high-speed. High is for high-speed/broadband only.

We will have videos playing from time to time as you listen to the radio. We are still working on the WINAMP servers, but for now, the new Windows Media Player has better quality. Please report any bugs you find as we are still in the testing phase! Don't forget to turn it up!

Just want to make a quick update on Jedi: Timline. We have upgraded our forums to “Invision Power Board”. We would invite everyone to stop by and drop us a line. Everyone with an account on our old forums has one on the new ones. Also stay tuned in the next week or so we will have full details on the mod contest where you can win Half-Life 2 stuff, FarCry games, and signed Art from Hans Jenssen.

Unfortunately, it's come to this. We need a player animator. Now. Right now, as in.... yesterday. If you want the mod get me a animator. All my attempts at finding one have been futile. We dont have any on staff, and we have been through about 10 that say they know how and can do it, but have yet to. Find me a animator. If you're an animator, have done HL animations before and know what you're doing, give me a shout.

Notable changes in this version are listed below. See also the release notes for more explanation, or the full changelog for more details.
  • Fixed a memory leak the size of the gamedll when extracting a missing gamedll from the cache file on Windows Steam servers. Found by Wei Mingzhi.

  • Made game directory lookup case-insensitive.

  • Added MOD recognition for CSV15 (Counter-Strike 1.5 for Steam), Adrenaline Gamer 6.5 and up.

  • Added MOD recognition and entities for The Terrorist Revenge 0.2.1, Pirates, Vikings and Knights Beta 2.1.

  • Added entities for Sven Coop 3.0, Vampire Slayer "Chapter VI", Earth Special Forces Beta 1.2, Science & Industry 1.0.

  • Changed MOD recognition for Adrenaline Gamer 3.x. The 3.x version of the MOD is now being deprecated and support will be removed from a future version of Metamod. It can currently still be used by renaming the game directory from "ag" to "ag3" or by explicitly specifying the gamedll.

  • Improved parsing of plugins.ini file to not report errors on empty lines and commented out lines that start with whitespace.

  • Added support for loading AMD64 games (Linux game dso needs to end in "_amd64.so" instead of "_i386.so") in AMD64 Metamod version.

  • Added "lin32" and "lin64" keywords in addition to "linux" keyword for plugins.ini file to support using the same file for the same game on both 32bit and 64bit servers. The "lin32" and "lin64" keywords override the "linux" keyword when used on the same plugin. Do not use "linux" when using "lin32" and/or "lin64" keywords for the same plugin.

Recently the CPL released the official rule set for the Cyberathlete Extreme Winter Championships $100,000 Counter-Strike tournament.
Those preliminary rules can be found here.

The CPL would like to note some changes in these rules that are less obvious than the changes in match format that were mentioned in the press release of August 18, 2003.

Some sad news regarding the Dragonball Adventures staff. A few members will be leaving as well as some kicked for inactivity.

For the good news: We were recently having problems with exporting the animations to a Half-Life 2 compatible format, but this has been fixed thanks to the hard work of the animator. With Half-Life 2's release very soon, you will see the team work faster and more effeciently than ever. Also, to ensure that we have no delays, tighter restrictions will be put on the team and how we do things.

To answer all the emails regarding the Half-Life 2 preload hype, we do not know what's going on. The Half-Life 2 community is losing their patience from all the delays. We do know that one Valve employee made an attempt with someone else to tarnish the community and radio over the weekend. Sounds like a lot of wasteful time for someone who is working hard for a game release. In other events, we have seen Gabe Newell announcing stuff on message boards that never seem to happen. So, what is really going on and what is Valve doing with their time?

I am sure we'll see or hear about another one of those so-called "official forum post threads" from either Gabe or another Valve staff member regarding Half-Life 2 preload status. If history repeats itself, it'll start out with some positive news or something to keep people hoping for a summer HL2 release. This will keep people occupied for a few weeks until they realize that there is no official release date. No official press releases. Even when we get the HL2 preload, it doesn't mean we'll have the game. We have to wait until it's released. Either that, or Valve will go into hiding again with the common practice of silence.

We will be bringing this up on Friday night's Half-Life Radio show on GameSHOUT. In the meantime, let's still wait for the Half-Life 2 preload. Hey, while we're at it, let's all continue to wait for the Half-Life 2 release date. Yeah...
