Source: Half-Life: Nightwatch
Half-Life: Nightwatch has just released the second half of its two-part media update. The update includes a large number of new screenshots, many of which are from areas never before seen, a render of the new model for the Alien Slave, as well as concept art of the Particle Pulse Rifle and demonstration shots of the particle engine. Additionally, a story update and new development diary will be posted later on during the day.

The response to the available team positions has been exceptional so far, and the mod has received a large number of applications for several of the positions. Nightwatch is still looking for skin artists, model animators, music artists, texture artists and voice actors, so people interested in helping out in any of these areas should check out the Nightwatch jobs page.

I’m Majestic XII and I’m the site director of the site www.hl2modcentral.com .

HL2MC is the former .Dev site hosted on Halflife2.net but we now changed name and host.

HL2MC is a resource site for HL2 modding. The site works like a huge wiki, members can add articles, tutorials, mods, links and so on to the site. The point of the site is to create a place where you can go to when you got problems and also somewhere you can go to if you want to share your knowledge and thoughts. We already got several articles and tutorials (video tutorials too) on the site and most mods are registered on the site.

We hope this site will bring the modding community together and help them on the way to create better mods for our pleasure (and for HL2’s future).

We've gotta stop releasing media in tidal waves, but as usual it just builds up and before you know it it's out of control. :P Anyway, here's a showcase of what the team has been working on.

First up, the skinned Mills Bomb by Trigger. Approximately 70 million of these babies were used by the Allies during the course of the war.

Also Mortars skinned Mauser G98. Usually considered slightly inferior to it's Commonwealth counter-part - the SMLE MKIII - it was still a very dependable gun.

We then have two vehicle map models, the British MKIV for HL and the German A7V for HL2. Whether or not the A7V will be drivable is still being debated but it's still a while down the track. =)

And here's a few skinned map models by Mortar that have been slapped together to make a second dugout scene.

In other news, our beta testers are gearing up for internal beta testing which is to commence soon. Also, in an effort to let people let us know what they think without signing up to the forums, the News and Announcements forum is now enabled to accept guest posts. So tell us what you love (or hate, but constructively only please.) If this is abused then we will not hesitate to disable it and you'll have ruined it for everyone! Don't forget we have a channel on GameSurge (#somme)
too! If you don't know how to use IRC and want to get to know the team a little, then just head to http://www.sommevalley.com/irc.shtml. Cya at the front!

Hiya community.

I got some stuff for you all.
First is a reminder to check out a few places.

The Hostile Report has updated with some new news on thier mainsite.
The Hostile Map Database is offline for a bit due to PHL maintenence.

The Test Team has a new beta report and tracking system up and being tweaked. Many thanks to the guys from Mantis. This system will be used from here on out after the 1.3.5 patch.

So the 1.3.5 patch... waiting for me to mention it huh? Well, we have had some setbacks and some advancedments for this patch. The main body is finished and I will list later this week what to expect with a changelog.
We will quickly be on the ball for 1.4, which already has quite a bit of content. Some submodels from BlackPanther for the player models, new animations from rifter (maybe some grenade animations?)
JRandall will be bringing us some new weapon animations for 1.4 as well.

We do have to give a fond farewell to a long time community and development member. OpticHelix is departing the team. We wish him the best of luck as he begins a new portion of his life. Thank-you for all your hard work and dedication over the years Ian. I, we, will miss you. Give me a call some time. Maybe you and the little lady can come skiing over the winter.

We do have a few openings currently on the team. We are looking for level designers, animators and programmers still. Please check out the contributions page which you can find here. if your interested in applying for a possistion on the team, please fill out the web form provided on that page.

*edit*
I knew I forgot something while I was posting this. You guys can all check our new section HI's Dev Journals. From time to time, our dev team will be posting information about what they are working on, thoughts, and ideas.

Source: Project Genesis
Project Genesis has died. This was a pretty much unanimous decision from the co-leaders BB, zombie@comp and NoBody. I don't really feel any conviction to give reasons. Not to this public. Cheers for this hl2 and the community that cant see past a glossy engine to originality or talent. Heh, i hope one of you reads this and gets cancer while reading this post from the radiation from your monitor. Thanks to those few people who did support us (like those guys from that school. sorry i cant remember which school but it meant alot to us) and the people that stuck around on the forums to give us support. My apologies to those. Thanks to my real team (comprised of around 10 of 100 team members) that actually cared about the mod. But like this community, the passion is dead. If for some reason you want to speak to us about getting some of the stuff we worked on, contact one of us. You probably wont get anything unless you get express permission from the maker and/or you were a supporter of the mod. GG PG. Later all.

...
Ben for president!!!

Today our composer, Jeff Simmons, has presented me with the result of hours and hours of his time working on the main theme for Valandil and I am proud to present it for public download.

Jeff's website is currently under production but will soon be updated with content and relevant info, meanwhile you can find it in it's rather empty state here.

Jeff makes his living composing music, and is always looking for paid work, so if you're someone in need of talented, professional standard composer, I suggest contacting him. Details on the team page.

Anyway here's the link to download our theme tune, I hope you all love it as much as I do!
