Last week we showed something different, yet enjoyable: a render showing off the latest additions to Goku. Most of the fans were curious about what was exactly changed, so we're here to tell you guys what's new. God Gundam drastically increased the polycount of the whole model and went nuts on the face and clothes with detail. Darktooth did completely new animations just for the modified mesh.

Well it looks like IGN (owners of sites such as planethalflife.com) are shutting down their free hosting. This sucks for the HL/HL2 community as there are sites on there since I can remember. Planet fortress for example has JMC's TF Mapzone, a now archive of great TFC maps (basically every single TFC map known to man). That list will cease to exist.

As always, I still offer free hosting for all those who need it. And for the next few month I will even help you move your entire site to HLGaming.com for free as well. That includes moving the web content and databases.

Half-Life Gaming.com offers the following services:
  • Ad-free websites (In most cases).

  • Unlimited Resources (within reason).

  • E-Mail Services

  • Custom Error Documents

  • Domain or Sub domain Hosting

  • CGI, PERL, PHP & SQL

  • News/Event Coverage

  • FTP Service

  • Tech Support, by IRC or Email.

  • Access to the edgewebmaster system

Head over to the hosting page for more information.

Part II is still in production. A preview will be out at some point. The Purchase Brothers are currently making a feature film that requires quite a bit of their time.

Made as spec 'advertainment' for their demo reel.

Filmed guerilla style. No crew. First two episodes made on a $500 budget, not including previous capital. Valve flew the brothers out to Seattle last year. and mentioned they were 'blown away' by the project on Steam.

Zombie Panic fans,

We released a very minor update to Valve today. You can view the changelog here as always to see the changes.

The most visible changes are to hardcore mode. Activating or deactivating sv_hardcore will restart the round, and turning on sv_hardcore_alwayson will activate sv_hardcore, and ensure that it is on. You will have to deactivate sv_hardcore_alwayson to turn off hardcore mode.

Thanks,
ZP Development Team

Ventura County isn't exactly recognized as being a video game mecca. Developers tend to gravitate toward Japan, San Francisco or a dank cave. But that's yesterday's thinking. Today's developers aren't interested in being confined to a cubicle or tied to a dinghy. Steve DeBaun, who believes that gaming shouldn't be confined, period, shares his love for gaming with the county he grew up in.

DeBaun sat with me outside of Bernadette's on Main and waxed philosophical on gaming. As a teen at Camarillo High, DeBaun was an “alpha geek” at a time when playing Nintendo was akin to wearing thick punch-me glasses. “Being a geek at that time was not that fun at all,” DeBaun recalled. “Did you know in Korea, if you're the best guy playing video games you've got girls hanging off of either arm. Why!? Wrong country, wrong decade!” But he didn't let his unpopularity dissuade him from pursuing a career in the far more popular field of applications development.

It's July, it's hot, it's summer. Here in the UK we're in a heatwave and baking. We're all having fun in the sun and we hope you all are too.

Anyway, this month is a month to celebrate two things, on the 13th July 2009, there are 2 birthdays, coomdoom's 17th and SGL's 1st birthday. YAY!

Furling has continued his work on his Conquest map and here are some the beautiful results of his hard work:

Our other devs are still working hard and trying to cope with the heat but it's all progressing well so all is good.

That's all for this month. Have a great July, play safe, don't get burnt and keep away from the 'Stranger Danger' :p

Age of Chivalry Toe-to-Toe is the 2nd major update to the first person online medieval combat game "Age of Chivalry" since being released on steam and it throws the player into the fictional world of Agatha where the Agathian Knights and the Mason Order are in a blood feud and neither side will yield. In true medieval fashion players can unleash detestation upon their foes with a variety of vicious medieval weapons including mighty battle axes, curved longbows, massive siege weapons and much more. Supporting up to 32 players online in objective based combat, Age of Chivalry, Toe-to-Toe is an experience no medieval or FPS fan can pass up.

This update to the game focuses heavily on the core combat system, swings come faster, parries are more effective and both reflexes and strategy play an important role in defeating your opponent. Reach, angles and evasion are the tools each player must fight to use to their advantage in a flurry of exchanges and transitions that have a constant smooth and violent flow. Combat isn't about trading blows or sprinting around, anymore. It's about controlling distance, timing, countering, and maneuvering to ensure your blade lands flush, while also ensuring your opponent's advances do nothing but work to your advantage in tiring him out. Combine this with the new environments and focus back on objective based play being introduced and you have a whole new set of skills and reactions to master if you want to be at the top of the scoreboard in this version.

Mighty warrior, you have fought many battles and wars with me as your guide through these troubled times, but a war is coming, a war that shall bring great peril to our shores and our people. You have always stood above the others, many a time I have seen you carving a vicious bloody path through the enemy so violently that you surely have turned the tide of battle for us more than once. But a new age is coming, an age where strength and bravery is no longer enough to attain true glory on the battlefield. You must choose wisely my friend how you develop your skills on the field, will you be a merciless berserker that unleashes his rage on his opponents in a flurry of powerful strikes while leaving himself open? Or shall you be the swift and agile counter attacker who patiently waits for his opening... Either way my lord, other warriors will make decisions as well and their fighting style will force you to adapt your own and overcome your opponents with a mixture of defensive maneuvers and offensive onslaughts that push your opponent to the brink.

This age shall bring an end to the warriors of old, but a rise to those who can truly conquer the new combat styles that are emerging, young warrior, many a times have I stood by you when it looked as though all was lost, and today I stand beside you still, but I stand beside you with a warning. These are dark times, there is much glory to be had but never before has it taken so well rounded a hero to overcome the odds of battle. Fight smart, fight hard and kill without mercy. My lord, take up your sword and trample all that oppose us, for this is the Age of Chivalry and only the valiant shall survive!

Neotokyo, a HL2 total conversion mod has been released. Please check out their site for the torrent. I will be uploading it here soon as well as making a proper news post a bit later.
NEOTOKYO° is a first person shooter that aims to provide a visceral & realistic combat experience in a rich futuristic setting. NEOTOKYO° takes place in and around a fictionalized Tokyo approximately 30 years in the future. Mankind has begun to fuse with technology. Government and corporate corruption have transformed Tokyo into a deadly dystopian nightmare. After a near-successful military coup by ranking members of Jinrai, the National Security Force (NSF) is formed - answering directly to the Prime Minister, it's mission is to investigate and eliminate all threats to Japan, both abroad and at home. Soruce: Natural Selection 2
I wanted to make sure you all knew about what was happening around here. As most of you know, we released an NS2 teaser (http://www.naturalselection2.com) and started taking pre-orders for NS2 (http://www.naturalselection2.com/buy) about a month ago and the response has been tremendous. We cannot thank you enough. It has been a HUGE help for us and let us really focus on making NS2 the best game it can be! You ROCK!

Also, we had some problems with our new web server, which were recently fixed. So if you ordered NS2 and have not receive your game key(s) yet, or if you would like to change the e-mail address associated with your game key(s), go here (http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/help).

Now we're cranking away on our custom content tools, which include our level editor, our model viewer and our cinematic editor (which we used to create the teaser). Everyone that pre-ordered NS2 will get early access to these tools. We don't have a release date in mind, but that's our next goal. These content tools will also come with our environment textures and props as well as NS2 mapping guidelines so you can start working on maps or custom artwork for NS2 or NS2 mods. We will e-mail you when they are available and can't wait to see what you build with them!

Yesterday we also got written up on IGN and released the first of our alien "reveal" videos (http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1001060p1.html). These are short videos that show the concept art and completed version of each alien. The Onos video was released yesterday and we'll be releasing the others shortly. The writeup talks some about the Onos' abilities, which we'll be covering in much more depth on our blog in a few days.

Thanks for all your support everyone, we can't tell you how much it means to us. We're in business for, and because of, you!
