The times when we lack the time to write news posts, are always the times where the most progress is made. Even if it doesn't look like it behind the scenes there is an unbelievable bustle going on. And then when everyone calms down for a few days, we decide to take some time to post a progress report again.

Another big playtest took place on the two weeks ago. It lasted for several hours and with the help of the team and a good bunch of dedicated volunteers we managed to get a long list of bugs reported and fixed.

Firstly here are shots of the totally revamped bg_ruin. Steve worked his butt off to improve it in the short period of time.

Bugi has helped to fix a lot of map bugs in an unhuman short time and Predator didn't sleep for almost a week to fix all his maps without a break.

The lack of sleep payed off though. Predator fixed around 10 maps at once and the result is pure potential player pleasureness. Here are some shots from ForestRoad

The revamp of ruin not being enough already, Steve has started his next sideproject, a rebuild of bg_ruin. This map might be released in a mappack or via the forums as custom map.

A few other things that got done recently: Marzy revamped the weapon reload animations and added new hands to a bunch of models.
Ben fixed around 30 codebugs. JMW, Smashed and XSpike prepared their maps for 1.2.2.
With the first pieces of the HL2 SDK have been released, the Battle Grounds 1.2.2 will be the final release for HL1. We have already started planning BG:S which will be released over steam.

The first experiments of porting bg maps were successful. On the one hand Source offers unbelievable new aspects for future gameplay. On the other hand it increases the workload for mappers and modelers drastically. But be patient. BG:S will be one of the top HL2 mods. We promise this and will do everything necessary to make that happen.

To finish off here is a snapshot of XSpike's work in progerss port of bg_snowlake:

Second Genesis is a multiplayer mod for Half-Life 2 that combines team oriented class based first person combat with RTS concepts such as resource management, research/upgrades, and structures along with the ability to capture and control special areas that provide an assortment of advantages. Unlike an RTS though, there are no commanders and it is instead up to the squad to organize and mobilize themselves, seeking out what they believe is necessary to achieve victory against the opposing faction. We hope to create a setting in which not only FPS skills are needed but strategy, tactics, and teamwork are necessary for victory.

Also, we are currently recruiting an assortment of people to add to the team, those interested can find more information here.

am pleased to announce the official unveiling of Smugglers Run 2053. Our small but committed team has been working hard in the final preparations for our very first Media release. SR-2053 - a full conversion HL2 Modification - will be set in a future 'cyber-punk" world scenario, and is fundamentally based off D&D styled RPG's involving mythical creatures. Needless to say, we are aiming to deliver an entirely new genre to the online multiplayer gaming experience with many of the advancements we have already come to love.

To list just a few of the features SR-2053 will offer: A variety of humanoid races and classes to choose from, campaign based missions where character attributes are developed, personal objectives (in addition to standard team mission based scenarios), dynamic and original battle strategies/locations, and a completely new approach to a mixed melee & missile combat.

In addition to the media release, our website and forums have been heavily revamped and updated to better accommodate our team and the general public. Including:
  • Full team Bio's (complete with pics of previous works).

  • Many customizations to site layout, forums and functions.

  • Numerous graphic, gremlin, and avatar additions.

  • SR-2053 Media Page

  • An ongoing story representation of the Mod.

Periodically, new chapters and images will be added to our media section. Presented in the form of a story, it should showcase our concepts and what we have in development, as they become available. As well, we feel this approach should compliment and very closely reflect the mood we are aiming for in our modification.

Though our team has hit a few speed bumps throughout the past year of development, we have grown from them and our resolve has only strengthened. And with the release of our Media section, we hope you will share in our enthusiasm

At last the stories are back! Took me three hours to upload a total of 1700 pictures, add them to a list one by one and linking them to each story. Check out the Half life 1 picture stories for the whole list.

I've done this because I wouldn't want to have an useless website without any content. Specially since Devil1 had to work very hard in making this website.

It's too bad things don't work out the way we want to. At least everythings back now ^_^

As some of you might think we are dead...we are still working hard to bring you the best mod possible. Though lately myself and other key team members have been struggeling with fitting this mod into our busy schedules, we are still finding some time.

There are a few areas that we do need some help with:
  • Mapper

  • Skinner

  • Texture Artist

If you can help out in any of these areas please e-mail me at mjcs@hlgaming.com

After months of continuous development, the Web Development team has reached the final stages of UASite v2.0's completion. Along with the obvious design overhaul, many significant changes and improvements have been made to UA's website. The information, management, and product pages have been updated, along with the creation of new logos for each product. UASite 2.0 uses improved documentation and file release systems, along with multiple language translation support for international site users. One of the largest improvements is not even directly noticeable to users; the use of the new phpUA Engine which is essentially the entire backend system. In the future, the phpUA Engine will be used for many of the web development product releases as well. The most exciting part is that this is only the beginning--more improvement can be expected to follow with UASite and UA as an organisation into the New Year.

The Web Development team is very excited and has high hopes for this upcoming release

Related: Remnant Factions

A new mod for the upcoming game Half-Life 2 has been announced. The mod is called Remnant Factions and it will feature:

Remnant Factions is a Cooperative mod for Half Life 2. "Remnant Factions" is a 4 way war that takes place over a corner of the galaxy in the year 2359. The human race has been divided and fighting for nearly 90 years against each other and 2 different alien races. You and your team members are a special operations group that carries out missions against each of your
enemies.

The four main sides are:

Underground Alliance (who you fight for, Humans)
United Sol Core (who you want freedom from, Humans)
Zalkri (Advanced aliens that want to annihilate Humanity)
Kyrix (massive Arachnids that wish you eat you)

For each kind of enemy you face you will have to switch tactics. Using the same ones over and over will get you and your team killed.

Our mod team is trying to give players more choices in the way they will fight each enemy and take on each map. Certain maps will respawn players certain ways. The choices we are offering the player are the covert operations feel or the sensation you get from non-stop combat. So no matter how many you kill there will be hundreds ready to take that enemies place.

There will be a ranking system in Remnant Factions so newbies will not be ordering around squads, but if your commander is getting you all killed you can choose to releive him of command.

For more information about the Remnant factions mod plz contact me by email: SoldiersShadow@hotmail.com ... or by our forums: http://sorbo.000k2.com/rfactions/

The site is still being updated and concept art that has been done has not been posted yet.

We are currently looking for Concept artists, modelers and Coders.

For more check out the Remnant Factions site.
