[UPDATE]
PlanetHalfLife just reported that they have received another e-mail from Erik Johnson informing them that it might take another day for the fix to be released:

We're still working through some testing on this release. It might be something we'll want to hold for another day and release tomorrow.

[/UPDATE]

PlanetHalfLife got a confirmation from Erik Johnson, that Valve is planning on releasing the Stuttering Fix for Half-Life 2 today:

That's what we're shooting for.

So if all goes well, then we will have more on this soon.

The newest GW Films Counter-Strike movie has been released. The_Family_Man and all the other hard working men that have made this movie are proud to present to you ClanWars:

This is the highly anticipated counter-strike film ClanWars. Created by GW Films and CN Productions, the story follows two opposing teams: one being an unstoppable clan, and the other being a group of unskilled wannabes.

At the moment the movie can only be downloaded by paying FilePlanet subscribers but hopefully it will be available soon to the rest of us. The movie can be downloaded from here.

The team of the Half-Life mod Move In! have revealed something very great looking. Their team member n3m3s1s made a 3D sky, as seen in Half-Life 2, for the mod:

Do you like the new source 3d skys? Well here it is for Move In!

n3m3s1s did a great work and it tooks him from midnight till 5:30 AM (mapping, modeling, skinning). The worst part was finding the right scale for everything. Call him insane but I think it was worth the time and the coffee he needed ;)

Here are some pics out of a testmap:

This looks amazing, and once more shows that the Half-Life engine is still capable of some pretty neat things. Check the Move In! site for more.

People are still experiencing motion sickness while playing Half-Life 2, mainly when operating a vehicle in the game. Still no real fix for the problem, but over at the HalfLife2.net forums some more information from Valve has been posted. Here some words:

We've been rigorously playing and testing Half-Life 2, Counterstrike Source and Half-Life Source for a long time now - and we've found nothing to suggest that the FOV change is a significant factor in causing motion sickness. We have, however, put a great deal of work and attention into reducing the motion sickness that can be experienced in the vehicles in Half-Life 2. During our early playtests, many of us were experiencing motion sickness from driving the buggy and the airboat - especially the airboat. We've done a lot of work on tuning the experience to reduce any ill effects - especially looking at how we manage the players head/view in relationship to the movement of the vehicles. Interestingly, for all of the vehicle sequences we revert back to FOV 90 so that you have more peripheral vision which is helpful when moving at these faster speeds.

The full post can be found here. The best thing to do at the moment is to just take several brakes from playing, especially when playing with the vehicles.

A new screenshot of the upcoming Day of Defeat: Source has found it's way on to the internet. The screen shows you a small part of the map dod_density:

Possibly not a complete remake like Counter-Strike: Source but still good looking, but we will know more on Day of Defeat: Source as it's (As of yet unknown) release nears.

HL2Files.com reports that a website dedicated to solving the stuttering problem of Half-Life 2 has found a solution to the problem and it will be released soon:

A solution for the stuttering problem has been found and a fix is coming. I've been talking with Gary McTaggart about this today and it turns out that my texture management theory was correct. A patch will be coming for this issue that will load all of the required textures into video memory on level load, rather than doing it during game play. There is currently no ETA for this patch, but I will post an update as soon as I get more information.

So stay tuned for more on this.

Azzkiker from HL2Files.com informs me about a nice little file that can now be downloaded from his site. The file adds a handy menu to Half-Life 2 which enables you easy access to the multi player of the game:

This tiny file will edit your Half-Life 2 menu to add multiplayer options. Creating and browsing servers is now fully functional.

You can get the file from here.
