A new set of media has been released, containing new level screenshots by Adam "Who? Me?" Foster, Zach "Ferret" Ford and Robert "Campaignjunkie" Yang, and a great music track by Chris "Bouche" Bouchard. Take a look at the full set of level screenshots and listen to the music track. We'll also be following up this release with a second, smaller update in the near future containing updated model content.

Unfortunately, we have had to say goodbye to one of our level designers. Tommy "tommyd" DiLazaro is leaving due to personal reasons, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours. To this end, we're opening up two new level design positions, in addition to the existing openings for character animation, art design and voice acting. To see more details or apply for one of these positions, visit the jobs page.

After a long waiting period of no new from the team, it is my pleasure to give to the community today, four new models. First, from the Modern Age, I would like to introduce the M76 Sniper Rifle. Also, from the Industrial Age, the Type 14 NAMBU Pistol. Finally, it is my pleasure to give the community two melee weapons, one being the Gladius Short Sword and the other being the Heavy Double Axe. We are also still looking for animators and mappers, so please stop by our website and give us a shout. The team hopes that you enjoy the news. Thank you.

HalfLife2.net reports about a great site that has been put online. The site, called The Half-Life 2 Story Guide, offers you a detailed and great to read story line that runs from before the Half-Life game until the end of Half-Life 2. Here some words:

Gordon Freeman kills Nihilanth, freeing the Xen from the Combine and alerting the Combine of Earth. This Xenian was the leader of the Vortigaunts, and now the Vortigaunts are free. But now, however, the Combine have discovered Gordon Freeman's presence on Xen and the portal he came through. The Combine discover the existance of Earth and plan an invasion of it.

So if you want to know more about the story behind the games then take a look at The Half-Life 2 Story Guide site right here. Great work Chan "Ventro" Karunamuni.

BBC News has put online a interesting article about Valve banning about 20.000 Steam accounts just recently, for using illegal game versions and other illegal things. Here some words:

Game maker Valve shut down the online accounts of the players because it had evidence that their copy of the game had been obtained illegally.

Copies of Half-Life 2 had been circulating on file-sharing systems soon after it was officially released.

Experts said the success of the Half-Life 2 anti-piracy system might tempt other game makers into creating their own version.

Guardian just sent me a new version of his support files for the Half-Life single-player maps (together with Sven Co-op, these allow you to play Valve's original Half-Life storyline co-operatively). This version supports direct installation on Steam, with no need for an old HL installation! Download from SvenCoopCentral.com or BulletFiles.com (thanks Chris!)

The previous version of the support files (which was included with Sven Co-op 3.0) were balanced for very large player counts, making the maps near to impossible for small groups of players to complete. This version reduces monster numbers, types and strengths to levels much more comparable to the originals, making it perfect for LAN or small Internet games.

There is one known issue: While the final boss battle works well enough, the map does not change once the players are successful (you need to change the map manually, wait until the time limit is hit, or change the map via a vote). This is a code bug that should be fixed in Sven Co-op 3.5.

RE: Covert Operations, a new survival-horror-themed mission by MrFranswa, is now available from SvenCoopCentral.com and BulletFiles.com (Filesize: 57mb). Note that if you downloaded the version from a couple of weeks back, you will need to re-download, as this version has been updated. Extract the ZIP to your Half-Life\\ directory.

In the map, "You are members of HCF's elite retrieval squadron. Your mission? To break into rival corporations, steal their research, and eliminate any witnesses." It's an indirect follow-up to RE1: The Awakening, so expect even more spine-chilling zombie-whacking action, story-centric gameplay, and creative use of monster-replacement. Plenty of in-game cut-scenes, too.

Sorted the Files page out a bit, by the way, adding links for Smaggy's Cyborg remixes, the RCBot for Sven Co-op, etc.

With the Half-Life 2 SDK apparently slated for release next week, we'll probably be releasing some more details on Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2 fairly soon, so keep an eye on the site.

Update Here!
Boarding-Up Video
I'll start this update with a promise I have in fact kept. Here you are. One boarding up demo for your viewing pleasure! I'm not too impressed with the quality so I hope to get you all a much higher quality version shortly.

Team News
Well today I'd like to welcome Snyper18 to the team for the position of Mapper. He's already begun work with a new alleyway map. Some pictures are posted below.

Unfortunately, R2D2 had to take a leave of the team after a spectacular run. He was instrumental in getting our zombies where they are at this point. We wish him luck and whatever he does in the future.

New Gallery
I've uploaded a new PHP gallery complete with up to date photos (short of the RPD which will be updated shortly) with a large amount more content than before. Check it out in the images section.

Special thanks to Incy for helping me get it set up.

About Page Updated

Well throughout our multiple discussions in the forums we have decided on several more game-modes and are officially announcing their inclusion in the project. Check out the about page for more details!

Departmental Update
Coding- R2 finished a large portion of the zombie code allowing for the alpha features listed below to work with very few problems.

Modeling- Kelly has finished a new Colt Python model for us. Kelly and Fiskedusen also have learned to UV-map so though the need for UV-mappers is still present, it isn't really crucial anymore, and would only be needed to lighten their load. iNDIANA has begun work helping them skin as well as to help enhance some of our current skins and to add replacement skins to some of our current models. SniperDave has restarted work on a "licker" he began working on prior to some computer malfunctions he was having.

Mapping- Termin8tor has begun making several enhancements to the RPD in preparation for his push to complete the entire building. Incy virtually finished the mall map he was working on. Redfox continued work on Shale allowing for some interesting boarding up strategy with the main door of the complex.

Sound- I've composed several more tracks and have begun enhancing current tracks to make them sound better.

Progress of the RPD
I know the RPD has been criticized from time to time but this is more my fault than anyone simply for the reason that the images page was simply added to. With the new gallery comes a more updated showing of all our maps in their current states.

Below is a tribute to the progress Termin8tor has made on the RPD since the projects conception.

Internal Alpha 1.0 RELEASED
Anyone paying close attention to the mod's progress may have noticed such additions as "Alpha 1.0 Shots" to our ModDB profile and the title of "Internal Alpha Released" to the same page. These are not just cosmetic considerations.

About midway through the month of October we, here at RETSP, reached the milestone of Internal Alpha. This information would have been disclosed earlier but we were still working with the boarding promo video and I didn't want to announce it for fear of overshadowing the Promo vid that had been asked for by the community.

Now I know many mods list their projects as "Internal Alpha Released". Many just consider this to just be an early build. We, however did not, and had specific guidelines for reaching this level. Our current Alpha has the following features.

+Boarding Up
-Use a Nail Gun to secure windows and doorways
-Boards become solid once placed and restrict travel
+New Zombie AI
-NPC Zombies Spawn in a multiplayer setting
-Zombies hunt by sound
-Zombies attack placed boards
-Zombies hold the player still whilst attacking
-Zombies now have fresh animations

We have since uploaded a whole slew of picts from several of our test sessions. These are featured in the new gallery.

NOTE: THIS IS AN INTERNAL ALPHA AND IS NOT RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC AT THIS TIME SO DON'T ASK IN THE FORUMS OR ELSEWHERE. IT IS AVAILABLE TO TEAM MEMBERS ONLY.

Concluding
Please keep us in mind while voting for the Golden Spanner on ModDB and remember we're always looking for more help. Stay tuned!

Source: Forsaken
Shrill here, from the post-apocalyptic HL2 Mod "Forsaken". We have just released another content update on our site.

The update includes 2 new fully skinned weapons; the dual Mac10 uzi's and the dual Walther P99's; along with wireframe, shaded and animated previews of those.

A new promotional concept art piece depicting the leaders of each faction in the Forsaken world, and the fully skinned Governor Leader player model on display.

We are also very pleased to announce the addition of a new talented coder to our team. David Byttow aka guitardave24, a professional games programmer.
