You can find a brand new interview involving The Last Great War at Pro-Warrior.com. Also, a reminder to check out the showcase in the forums for more media and work-in-progress shots.

Just a reminder to everyone, be sure to check back next Wednesday and Friday for additional media updates.

As I'm sure some of you got wind of, today is the day of our 'Big Update'... and here it is! I spent the last little while tinkering around with a few site designs, and this is the one we've decided upon, and will use until somebody better replaces me (eep!). New GFX Artist Esoteric will be working up a facelift for the current design shortly. The html site will be a fresh new start, allowing for easier user-interface, and many more updates than the old flash site.

One other major update that might come of interest to you is the news that some of the developers of Shores of Victory will be coming over to form their own department here at LGW. They will be heading up their very own singleplayer called The Last Great War: Shores of Victory. Expect more on that later. I'd also like to report that although Mith had been away, and retired from LGW these past few months, I'll confirm that he has indeed returned full-time to manage this strong dev team of 30+ talented coders, artists, and engineers.

We're working on fixing up all of our old work for LGW, as as have the SDK, we're able to aim directly for what Half-Life 2 can handle, and not what we heard through the grapevine. So as a little treat for you all, here are our first three new weapon renders, all have been touched up to Half-Life 2 Standards:

If you want to see any of our older media, please visit our modDB Profile. Expect to see more media in the upcoming weeks, including something very special within the next week before Christmas, I can guarantee you that you will not be dissapointed!

Counter - Strike Source is avaible and Day of Defeat Source will be released next year. But what will happen to the popular Natural Selection mod ? Producer NemesisZero has posted a ( german ) statement in our forums. Here is what he told us ( free translation ) :

A port of Natural Selection to Half - Life 2 is possible. The engine offers a lot of interesting features but the coders hadn't enough time to study the SDK. But before the team decides a change to source ( or not ) Natural Selection 3.0 Final should get released. If the team decides the change, there will be two possibilities : A very basic port which means that there will be as less changes as possible to the game, it should just get work on Source. Or an advanced port which uses the features of the new engine.

But even a basic port could become difficult. An example : The skulk wall - climbing is a hack of the Half - Life engine which simulates a ladder on every wall. Porting such a thing won't become easy and this is just one example... A very basic port will take at least three month.

We couldn't hold back any longer. With media release 2/2 postponed till January we thought we best give something special as a christmas present.
I'm extremely proud to announce award winning composer Winifred Phillip's participation on the Hull Breach team.

Winifred is the owner, sole composer and lead music producer responsible for all music production at Generations Productions LLC, an award-winning music studio and production company. Privately tutored in classical voice from the age of 14, her musical talent, soothing vocals and keen knowledge in production have won her 4 Gracie awards, a 2004 WorldMedal from the prestigious New York Festivals "World's Best Work" international competition and more. Winifred Phillips recently finished composing music for the AAA action adventure game, God of War, developed for Playstation 2 by Sony Computer Entertainment America, under the leadership of visionary developer David Jaffe (creator of the Twisted Metal franchise).

Here is the Hull Breach main them, one of her tracks that was published exclusively in October's issue of PCGamer. Enjoy!

Source: Snow War
am so happy to announce that Snow-War 2.0 is now available for download!

Here are some stats from this release:
-Steam support
-19 maps
-12 player models
-numerous fixes to old versions

So what are you waiting for? Head over to our Files section for a download!
If you can provide us with mirror, please mail me at: zilppuri at snowwar.hlgaming.com, thanks!

There are already servers up, for example:
195.20.109.200:27050 frag.st -Public Snow-War 2.0
80.190.251.59:27015 Ewf-clan.org SW2.0
213.20.234.227:27015 Alumni-Zocker SW2.0 (Linux)

See you all there!

I must warn that this version does have few bugs. Some are simply Steam bugs that we can't really fix and Valve hasn't shown any interest in fixing their own software (Steam) either. We will have to make a new version after christmas where we try to fix as many as we can.

There should be nothing critical, and chances are you never notice any of them.

Read readme.txt shipped with the release for a list of known bugs. You can also read the FAQ for info on solving some issues you might have with Snow-War. If you found a bug that is not listed in either of those, then please make a post in our forums.

That's all for now. We all will take a christmas break from mod making, so there won't be any major updates during that time.

And remember; give a server for christmas, and make many snowball-lovers happy ;-)

See you all in Snow-War!

-Teemu
PS. I also made a small patch for the linux release, that enables it to be used with windows dedicated server too.

Source: Hostile Intent
just got this media pack given to me and I was stunned. As we finish the maps for 1.4, they get better and better.

First I got this mystery shot… no one will tell me where it’s from, so your guess is as good as mine here.

As you know from the last bit of news Swatman has been assisting Squad in wrapping up the new map named hi_downed.
Here are a few great shots…

Next up is a few updates to some of our classics. Hi_depot and hi_hotel have gotten a major face-lift thanks to our wonderful admin and level designer MarmaladeMan. He has put some hard earned time into both of these to make them finally completed.

Here are some shots of hi_depot:

And a few from Hotel:

Later this weekend, I will have some shots from a classic and original map of HI used through-out early development to help build Hostile Intent into what it is today. It’s finally ready and I’ll also have an interview with the one who took over the project, Bic-B@ll.

Though we still do not have media to show anyone, we do have a fresh new site, that I have been working on for about 3 weeks straight, creating animations and stuff in between my normal work! So check it out here:
http://ofsmod.hlgaming.com/

The site contains a new history section that sums up all that has happened through this mod's development, here is an extract: "Our planned basic story was similar to Opposing Force, Adrian Sheppard, a marine of the US Army HazMat Support Team, would be just one of hundreds of marines dispatched to the Black-Mesa during the resonance cascade incident in 1999. The marines would be dispatched to destroy the alien threat and contain the incident in the facility. But the science and security teams in the facility were extremely resistant to the military occupation and they swore to protect their research at all costs.
Violence ensued."

The site also features an updated Q&A section, and we expect to revamp the media section as soon as our first media update is ready!
Thanks to HLGaming.com for providing painless hosting!

Also, we have opened up to recruit members. We're looking for everything, check the site out for more details!
