I know many of you may be asking "Where's 2.2? What happened to the forums? Are you guys insane?"As to the first question, it's on the way. I can garuntee you you'll be playing it before too long. We were pushing very hard for a Christmas release (extra special thanks to Deepflame, Nobody, and Golden Eagle 68 - you guys really went above and beyond), but the dev team and I decided that since you've waited this long already, we'd rather hand you a more polished product than one ridden with bugs and other unplayables. Yes, it exists, it's not some fairy tale. Yes, it's fun to play, much moreso than the current version. No, you can't betatest. The forums were starting to get rediculous, with nothing new to talk about things stagnated, and quite frankly we got tired of dealing with it. As soon as you have something to talk about, you'll have a place to talk - don't worry.Yes, we're insane. Those who have donated, please email beta@digitalpaintball.net (from the email of the paypal account, please)Potential mirrors, please email mirrors@digitalpaintball.netAny more questions? Class dismissed.

The Dev team decided (couple months ago) to "Clean up" and get a fresh new start on things for the new year. As most would expect, "Source" and what it offers is of extreme interest to the team and community. THEREFORE, This "Pre-Release or Final release" of FLF 2.0 is intended to show you what was there (prior to source) and if you want to play it, GREAT! Omega set a deadline for Dec.24 and it was met. If you dont care for it, well 1.8b is still just as it was. But this is the end of the road for FLF development on the HL 1 engine. We are clearing off our desks to start anew. 2.0 will get a patch to keep server from crashing, and fix whatever bugs can be fixed to have a playble game. Come Jan 1, we are focusing on the future, which is NOT flf 2.0 yet keeps the Frontline name, with a "hemi" under the hood. No release dates are expressed or implied! ;))So RELAX... and as always, tactful suggestions are read by all.Title: Front Line Force 2.0Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays from all involved, have this gift!Welp, it's finally here. Not totally in the state i had originally intended, but it's here. ATTENTION ATI USERS: You'll need to create a userconfig.cfg (or edit config.cfg) and change fx_newtextures to 0, this will be addressed after christmas. One major issue is linux: i've included the linux binary with the windows install, but I cannot garuntee it will work for everyone (or even many, at all) I don't have time to work on it anymore either (was having major problems with it for over a week and just today i managed to get it to run on my own test box.)So, there is no linux-server download. I won't be able to even look at it again till new years either, so windows servers and listen servers will HAVE to do for now.(depending on whoever can get it to run of course.Major changesCheck website for download links...download from hlgaming.com soon...Bugs
- new player models
- all new weapon code
- new sound code and ogg vorbis sounds
- mod requires opengl to run, if you're not in opengl it will error and give you a message box saying gtfo and switch to opengl.
- included maps are: flf_dusk, flf_sorrow, flf_shroud, flf_siberiankiss, flf_bridge2, flf_fallujah, flf_biohazard, flf_toledo2, flf_risu, flf_kezman, flf_village, flf_afghan, flf_dcity, flf_village, flf_lombardi, and if i'm missing any in this list, you'll find em.
- new weapons: ak105, p90, ksp58, smoke, tears, dpms kitty kat
This news post is brief, i'm on a super tight schedule and i'm leaving very shortly. I just wanted to get this out now instead of waiting till the end of the month.Have fun, lemme know how it goes. Please post mirrors in the news post (and check for mirrors in this thread before instantly clicking the primary download link!!)
- voice comm MAY not work, it should, but sunspot and i were having problems with it; and we aren't sure if it was his server or not. (i have no mic so i couldn't really test properly)
- linux, obviously, the linux server may do one of the following: not run, run and crash randomly, run and crash all the time, run away far far away and shout out "look at how wonderufl linux is!!!"
Well i fixed the POTD system not displaying by removing the New Files feature. It also fixed the problem of the downloads script not working. I am currently looking for a work-around.
Source: PlanetHalfLifeRelated: Xtreme PaintballPlanetHalfLife reports about a new Half-Life 2 mod that has been announced recently. The mod is called Xtreme Paintball and as the title suggests it's a paintball mod. Paintball is always cool, and hopefully the mod will bring the experience of the real life game well to the Half-Life 2 community. Visit the Xtreme Paintball site for more. Do note that the site will move over to Half-Life Gaming.com soon.
Source: HalfLife2.netRelated: First MoonThe First Moon team released their first ingame screenshots, showing us a dark and dangerous looking part of a city:
Hi there, we are proud to show you our first in-game shots, both from old districts. We have also made some modifications in the Story and Features section, so don´t forget to check it. Regarding story - we have decided only for one playable character after all, because the second character in our story seems a bit confusing... Concerning our team, we have new 2D artist called Iguana007, I hope you will see his work very soon. I think it´s all, stop by here sometimes, because we are planning some stunning screenshots soon...Head on over to the First Moon site for more information and media.![]()
Source: Sven Co-opRelated: Sven Co-op 2Yesterday the team of Sven Co-op released some great looking media of Sven Co-op 2 showing us one of their own Co-op maps made by Commando. Apparently not everyone believed that it was a home made map and thought that it was just part of Half-Life 2 itself. The Sven Co-op team posted the following update with two new screenshots of the map to show that it is a brand new map, based on Half-Life 2, and not just part of Half-Life 2:
Update: And since some people are refusing to believe that these are not directly from HL2SP, here're a couple more. Yes, this is a new map created from scratch by Commando to resemble the Valve map. If you don't believe us, load up HL2 and have a look at the original. There are obvious differencesLooking great, and I for one can't wait to kill some Combine together with other people. Check the Sven Co-op site for more.![]()
