Great looking new media has been released by the Evolution team:

Today we welcome 3 new members to the team. All of them have shown a great deal of talent and willingness to work hard on the mod. Our new weapons modeler, 7point62x39, is busy working on some of our weapons, translating them from concept to 3D. Here's a small sampling of his work. (Mind you, this was a rushed job.)

As for our new mappers, we welcome Magnus. He is going to be tackling the Canadian Wilderness map. Quite a challenging map, with all the organic components we plan for it, but as soon as we get some working screenshots of the map, we will be posting them here.

And, finally, our latest addition to the team, CodyHamway, showed off his talent in the mapping arena by producing a possible feel for the US Military Base. Here are a coupld examples of his work.

Keep in mind that these are all rough designs/concepts right now. As soon as we get a good chunk of images to show off again, you can bet we will post them for all of you to see and comment on.

Finally, we're still in desperate need of programmers. Let us know if you can help out.

Amped eSports has put online a acticle compairing the Counter-Strike 1.6 version of DE_Prodigy with the Counter-Strike: Source version. Here some words from the detailed article:

All in all, I really like the changes made to de_prodigy. The majority of the strats for the old version can still be used, but they have to be executed differently now. I think the biggest impact on this map from recent changes will be for Ts attacking long A. If a good AWPer is covering long A, or even 2 people, it is very tough to get down the hallway. Heavy smokes, especially since there is no 16 bit, and flashes must be used by Ts if they want to attack long A.

The art of the Double Jump is the title of the latest GotFrag? article that has been put online by Brian "Karpov" Johnson. The article is all about a nice trick you can perform in Counter-Strike 1.6. Here some words:

The double jump is a tricky piece of physics defying jumping that allows you to jump off of a teammate's head, while in mid air. The basic fundamentals of this maneuver can be executed with a little practice.

RTK Development has revealed it's Half-Life 2 mod. Smuggler's Run 2053 is the title of the mod that will bring you the following:

SR-2053 is a full conversion mod for HL2, set in a future "cyber-punk" world largely inspired from D&D styled RPG's – involving mythical creatures and futuristic mercenaries. Needless to say, we are aiming to deliver an entirely new experience to the Online gaming community.

SR-2053 will offer a variety of humanoid races and classes to choose from, campaign based missions, personal objectives (in addition to expanded team objectives), dynamic and original battle strategies/locations, and a completely new approach to a mixed melee, missile and vehicle combat.

In addition to our recent media release, our website and forums have been heavily revamped and updated to better accommodate our team and the general public. Including:

-Full team Bio’s (complete with pics of previous works)
-Many customizations to site layout, forums and functions
-Numerous graphic, gremlin, and avatar additions
-SR-2053 Media Page – An ongoing story representation of the Mod

Periodically, new chapters and images will be added to our media section. Presented in the form of a story, it should showcase our concepts and what we have in development, as they become available. As well, we feel this approach should compliment and very closely reflect the mood we are aiming for in our modification.

The Day of Defeat Editing Center is not quite dead yet, and to proof it a massif addition of downloads:

It seems the naysayers have underestimated the DoDEC Staff and I. Contrary to what you may believe, I will not allow this site to die that easily, and the very fact that alot of people said this site was dead irritates me.. Anyway, Speirs and I have updated the site today, so there you go.

I also removed the comments because they have been causing so much trouble because some of the BABYS out there can't seem to handle it.

So enjoy the downloads, and Happy New Year

The United Admins Limited Web Development department has officially completed the development and testing phases of UA::Site 2.0 to bring you a brand spanking new front-end to UA. As an internal UA project for over 2 years, UA::Site 2.0 is the next evolution of a product designed for UA all in itself. The Web Development team has been hard at work for a very long time, not only with UA::Site 2.0, but with other web-related projects as well, including but not limited to HLstats, Lumen, and phpUA.

The new site incorporates a cleaner and clearer design with fresh new logos for our products. Information about UA projects has also been revised to provide a concise outline of what UA has to offer the gaming community. The site promotes accessibility for international visitors with translations for the site navigation provided in Estonian, Norwegian and German. Complete translations, for all content including documentation, are expected to be available progressively throughout this month in these languages and more.

UA::Site 2.0 was carefully constructed not to limit UA. In the future, UA::Site will continue to develop and add features that are specifically geared to aid users and clans alike. UA::Site will also become a more informative source of server administration news. In 2005, UA will be encouraging the gaming community to take on an active role alongside United Admins Limited – an initiative that will be facilitated by UA::Site.

However, the highlight of the UA::Site 2.0 launch is that this is the first of many implementations of the new UA::Engine – a modular platform which allows for common cores of solution code to be merged together, promoting development efficiency and product reliability. The foundation of UA::Engine advances administration, configuration, database, game, template and lingual support – features which you can soon expect to find in all Web Development products who will act as plug-ins to this new common core. A new addition to the family is the Content Plug-in – the primary aim of which is to provide gaming clans with a content management system to build an advanced gaming website, simplistically. The UA::Engine is all about combining the best things from the Web Development department, and bringing them together to provide the gaming community with the best tools for the job.

United Admins Limited would like to extend a special thanks to Kris "Mad-X" Splittgerber and the rest of the Web Development team for all their hard work. UA::Site 2.0 would not exist today without their time and effort.

Related: Hostility

The Hostility team posted the following update at ModDB:

I've been working away like a busy modding beaver, all the NMO player weapons are now complete along with all the classes. as well as these i have completed turrets for both sides. the turret base must be requested by either sides coms class and then an engineer is required to select and build a specific type of turret ontop. turrets are fairly weak and will only take a couple of powerful hits, bases are stronger but useless without turrets.

NMO Turrets:
AT cannon
AA cannon (used for heavy anti-infantry)
GEC Turrets:
Beam cannon
Dual laser cannon

as well as these a number of tactical and battlefield obstacles that can be contructed or removed by engineers:
NMO:
Tank trap
Fire shield
GEC:
tank trap
energy shield

finally vechile interior and exterior concept drawings have been completed for both heavy tanks, the NMO missile tank and the GEC APC. Vechiles can either be driven and fired from the interior view (restricted vision but more tactical information and better protection) or the exterior view (better view of battlefield but head exposed and only a crosshair for guidance. players will have to make a decision based on their current situation as to which view they use.

all of these concepts will be online ASAP

Check the Hostility ModDB Gallery here for the media and head on over to the Hostility site for more information on the mod.
