Some more details about the status of the Day of Defeat: Source port have been posted at the forums of Day of Defeat. This reports the Day of Defeat section of Pexcus.com:

"PickItUp : It will be a 95% straight port. Codemonkey Mathew Boone has worked up a couple of really great features that are not really new, but are rather better implementations of current features. Wavemaster Kelly Thornton's sounds are great.

Model Genius Jakob Jungels is really taking advantage of Source and creating some terrific artwork. Hammer Guru's Iikka Karanen and Tim Holt are working their magic on a few of the maps. And I, John Morello II, have done NOTHING! LOL! So there's the other 5%."

PlanetHalfLife got some more information from Neil Manke of Black Widow Games about the question whether or not They Hunger will be remade for the Source Engine:

"Developing a version of They Hunger for HL2 would require a LOT more work than the original implementation for HL1. HL2 technology requires a much higher level of detail for each map, monster, scenario, artwork ... literally everything! An obviously, we are not even considering the alternative of providing a quick-and-dirty direct port of TH to the HL2 engine (without taking full advantage of the new technology) because we feel an inferior version wouldn't be fair to our fans. So, since HL2's release, we've been trying to find a way to implement this project and, in particular, we contacted Valve to see if they were interested in supporting us somehow (since TH was the most popular SP mod for HL1), and we are currently waiting for their feedback. In the meantime, the idea of a TH project for HL2 is on hold. That's the whole story to date!"

Related: Natural Selection / Unknown Worlds Entertainment

The brand new site of Natural Selection has been put online:

If you're reading this, that means the new site is now live! It took a WHOLE lot longer then we wanted it to, but at least it should be relatively stable and bug-free. I think this new site will really facilitate communication, organization and efficiency between the developers and the community.

......

This site will form the base for the community for all future games from Unknown Worlds. We think that if you liked NS enough to participate in the community that you'll enjoy our future work even more. Your account here is meant to last for many years to come.

It's good to have you with us.

The full details and press release can be found at the Natural Selection site. But that's not all Flayra from Unknown Worlds Entertainment (The developers of Natural Selection.) also posted the following on future projects:

NS, NS retail, NS: Source, NS2, etc.

There's so much confusion and misinformation floating around about all these projects that I think it's time to set the record straight.

First there was Natural Selection. Then I formed Unknown Worlds to make more ambitious retail games. I thought that the best bet for the company's first game was putting NS into retail, on the Half-life engine. This would be like Counter-strike or Day of Defeat in retail, and would've essentially been the same game, but polished up and packaged with the Half-life engine so people could play it without owning Half-life. I then decided that it would be too costly and a little boring to do this project, so it was skipped.

So the next project is likely going to be NS on the Source engine. We don't know for sure if we're doing this, as we haven't had time to evaluate how much work it will be, but everyone on the team is excited to do it, so I think it will happen. We don't know yet if it is going to be a straight port over to Source, or if we're going to redo a lot of the artwork/animations, or if we're going to change a lot of the fundamental gameplay (flamethrowers, physics, etc.). We need to look into it more, see how many months it's going to take (the bad part) and then make a decision. As soon as we know, we'll let you guys know. NS on Source will be done primarily by the current NS team. I'll be doing the game design and overall direction, but the NS team will be doing all the actual work.

The OTHER project, is Natural Selection 2. The game design has been started (hoo-boy, fun stuff), but this will be a full-fledged $50 (or so) retail game, not a mod. It will use a next-generation engine (like Source, Unreal Engine 3, etc.) and will take years and millions of dollars to create. This is what I'm now spending the majority of my time on.

Please trust that as soon as ANY information is available on any of these projects, we will post here on the front-page news of this web-site. You won't have to dig through the forums or IRC chat logs, we're going to broadcast loud and clear. We're also planning on making particularly big announcements to the Unknown Worlds mailing list, so make sure you've registered an account and subscribed there if you're interested.

I hope this clears things up. I can't wait!

I know they arent the best looking, but they are finally up and will be undergoing some changes in the next few weeks. I have created an IRC room for members to talk more directly to eachother, and I will be continueing to add on more boards to the forums. THERE IS NO ACTIVATION E-MAIL on these forums! I absolutly hate that, so I didn't include that. I may have to in the next few weeks to come if people start to abuse. Sign up now!

Here's a very quick video showing what we have so far for the SourceBall modification:

http://www.sourceball.com/modules.php?name=Downloads

As you can see we have the map going with a scoreboard and functioning health rooms.

Radar and health HUD are very much on their way and we have a few designs to choose from.

The physics is almost in place, however we will not be using the physics gun to manipulate the ball. We have some more interesting ideas for that!

Weaponary is still up in the air, if you want to give your opinion on whether we should have weapons or not in the game, then go over to http://www.SourceBall.com and let us know on the forum.
