HL2Files.com got some more information from MoonQuake about his upcoming HL2TDM map Heart of the Revolters. Among the info is also the release date of the map:

The map is about ready for publishing! I thought I couldn't be done before the next week-end because my computer's motherboard died on me. But fear not, I bought a better one with a faster cpu and was able to continue the work on the map and stay on schedule. Level editing (Hammer and HL2 running full throttle 12 hours a day) really is pushing a computer to its limits!

Friday, january the 14th, is the date at which HL2 players will be able to enjoy "Revolters".
That means you got a week to prepare yourself and trust me, you outta be ready for serious action! This ain't gonna be your usual I shoot you, you shoot me kind of joy ride... you WILL suffer and beg for mercy!

HL2 is a wonderful, powerful and versatile game... this is my humble contribution to its community.

Amped eSports is continuing their Counter-Strike 1.6 to Counter-Strike: Source map comparison. After DE_Prodigy they now get to DE_Aztec. Here some words from their detailed comparison:

Aztec, the map itself, has been totally redesigned and for the better. I think it has been redesigned to make it less of a pub map and more like a map for competitive play with the addition of spots of land in the water and the inability to use stop sound to clear the ambient noise. But in my opinion, this map still doesn't belong in competitive rotation. In fact, the last time and about the only time a major tournament used aztec was at this past WCG and that was because they used Condition Zero as the tournament game.

Beta 3 of bb_cemetary is now available in the downloads section, if you can't be bothered to goto the screenshots page to see the changelist, here it is:

CHANGES FROM BETA 2-
Included a .res in the zipfile
  1. Dig to china (gotta love that name) has become dig into a sewer, which ends up outside the front of the church where you can escape through a hedge

  2. Removed a wait mission, decreased initial 'hold' to 60 seconds (total wait time 3 minutes now)

  3. More weapons added and made more obvious

  4. Can now get on the tower ledge, but to ensure gameplay flows correctly, players cannot jump to the floor until AFTER the lights have been shot out and the front breakin has happened

  5. Tension 'fight' music fades in when fred appears

  6. A few ambient sounds like wind, though they are barely audible with the gunfire

  7. Made the 'shoot the lights' mission more obvious as people were confused

Also, as a treat for those who actually play brainbread and like funmaps, I spent a few hours making a funmap that doesnt look utterly shit (like most funmaps in halflife). No screenshots page as it's only a funmap, bb_funpits_b1 is available in the downloads page for er.. download.

Source: The Hostile Report
We recently got in touch with Charles, and he let us in on some very interesting and exciting news. Rifter, the modeling department manager has released his HI:PR design document to the Modeling Team. This means the crack Modeling crew can finally get started on PR.

We also received word from HI mapper, Volsung, that he as well has begun a map for HI:PR.

Charles, when asked to comment he responded that "The first release of Hostile Intent: Phoenix Rising will be a bare bones version with nothing more (possibly) than what we will release in Hostile Intent on the Half Life engine. After our first initial release we will develop it into its own beast. The reasoning behind this is that it is our intention to garner the largest support base possible as quickly as possible. Will we develop the game with this quote in mind: 'Release quickly. Release often' "

Related: Garry's Mod

Garry from the well known, used and loved mod Garry's Mod has been interviewed by Kalashnikov from LeakFree. Here some words from the detailed interview:

Where did you first get the idea for creating the "Garry's Mod" modification?

It wasn't really an idea. None of it was planned. At first I thought 'I'd love to be able to rope things together'. So I scanned the source and learned how to make a rope. But that didn't actually hold it together - it just drew a rope. So I scanned and realised that I needed to make a Length Constraint. That was pretty much how everything in my mod was born, with "I wonder if I could.. "
