Just wanted to do a small update.

  • 2 mappers joined

  • First player model soon

  • Site is done

  • blue2k joins the Brawl Council

For ideas and input I started a thread on modDB.com about this project and well I find it interesting to say the least. You will find many people do not think FPS=Hand 2 Hand Fighting. Time will tell!

I am looking for a coder to help make this project work. The coder who decides to take on lead coding will need to be talented in the Half-Life SDK. I apologize I just want someone new to coding in Half-Life2.

So we slightly bumped progress bar, because we think we have enough work done to classify it like a "15% complete". I have also began construction of a training level, so expect some screenshot soon. And for today update - the buggy. It will be the same puppy as in Half-Life 2, but in First Moon you will be driving it in the urban environment. Sounds good, doesn´t it?

From the modeling and skinning team we have gorgeous beauty renders of three weapons from the upcoming version 1.4.

The testing team is hard at work seeking out the last few bugs left in the build, and the development team is exterminating them. Rifter is busy compiling all the latest animations into the player models, and they look amazing. The mapping department is putting finishing touches on the new and old maps. Spirits are high. The time of 1.4 is near.

Related: Invasion From Mars

That's right, as I type this hundreds and hundreds of Martian spaceships are landing in our streets. They are taking over the planet and the only thing left for us to do is reading the great news that Invasion From Mars (ModDB Profile) is coming to the Source Engine:

Well my team (all 2 of us) and I talked it over and we have decided to bring back Invasion from Mars! We will be moving the mod over from HL to HL2. Currently at the moment we are going over all the old design docs and reworking a few of the old IFM game elements as well as adding a few more. Our coder has begun the tedious task of well... coding and I have been working on creating new models and textures. Our web site is not up at the moment so be sure to keep an eye on our ModDB profile for updates. As for our Moddb profile we will be changing the description soon with the new IFM game plan, but we will be keeping all old screen shots as place holders for now. Everything we be remodeled/textured and we will replace the old content as we complete them.

Here are 2 new pics, for the new Martian concept...

Check out the Invasion From Mars site for more. (O and PS, the Martians aren't really here yet)

Related: WH40K : Rival Species

Version 1.2 of the mod WH40K : Rival Species has been released:

Though our intended release date before the New Year slipped through our fingers, today, after seemingly endless bug hunting, we are finally able to introduce a new version of Rival Species! So lets go ahead and take a look at the new things in this version.

Among other things, we managed to:
-add corpses for followbots ad players,
-improve the vehicle code,
-make the close combat more brutal and fast paced,
-rework the whole hud,
-add a little radar feature to it,
-implement allied teams,
-include the bloodletter and new World Eaters weaponry,
-let the player take over the followbot his after death,
-and... add in the orkish horde!

For the new version, our mappers produced 3 new maps:

The first to of them is blackhawk by chromeangel. His latest great deed currently is the only map that features the Orks! They defend their fortress against stranded Black Templars. The goal of those is to destroy the big cannon in the fortress.

The second one is centurion by zamme. This truely evil map is kind of a remake of kallastin. It features a battle between the Iron Warriors and the World Eaters on one of the lost planets in the warp. The goal of this map is to get hold on all of the critical areas.

And last, but certainly not least, dark marine took the design of city_conflict to a new level. It is bigger, technically better and features 4 species in an allied war! You fight to control areas and whichever allied forces take hold of them all will win the battle. Black Templars and Alaitoc Eldar are allied against World Eaters and Iron Warriors.

So what is left to say? Go ahead, download at http://www.rivalspecies.com/files.php, install and join the fray ! WAAAAAGH! ( orkish battle scream ).

Check out the WH40K : Rival Species site for more.

Gabe Newell from Valve has been interviewed over at Half Rules. A interesting interview with some great answers from Gabe. Here some words on the status of Day of Defeat: Source:

13.- Day of Defeat has an incredible amount of potential and a lot of people is waiting for the Source version of their favourite mod... So, I have to ask... what's the progress on DoD: Source?

It is coming along quite well and will be out shortly.

Source: Brokenoath
Ok, I will get straight to the point. unfortunately Brokenoath is no more.
due to irreconcilable differences between the staff we have decided to go our separate ways. The majority of the longest serving staff members including myself, have either been excepted or have applied to join Stargate Rebellion because I feel I needed to work for a team who has respect for each other, listens to everyone's ideas and doesn't just shoot them down if they have a different opinions to their own. That is why the main Brokenoath page now redirects you to the Rebellion site.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped us out while we were all still together. (special thanks to Maxis for everything he did and Azzkiker from hl2files.com for always posting anything I sent him and hosting our trailer which has now reached over 19700 Downloads.) And a big thank you to all the fans who I hope to see over on the Rebellion forums soon.

One last thing I would like to say is that I wish everyone from Brokenoath the best of luck possible, I made some great friends while I was on the team and hope to say in touch with them all.

Neo_ad says

I would also like to thank everyone for there work and support over last 6 months, and i am very sorry this could not be sorted out.

I hope to see you all on SGR soon and wish you the best of luck, i would like to stay in contact and friends with everyone that has been here during that time apart from a few (you know who you are)

See you all over at http://sgr.hl2files.com [SGR]
